Neighbourhood Watch
Ku-ring-gai and Hornsby

eNewsletter #569 - 06 September 2022

This weekly eNewsletter is compiled by Neighbourhood Watch volunteers as a service for residents in Ku-ring-gai and Hornsby council areas. The eNewsletter is a new type of Neighbourhood Watch; utilising the available technology to keep people more connected and up-to-date with local crime and safety issues.

The eNewsletter includes a selection of posts from our local police at the Ku-ring-gai PAC Facebook page (also known as 'eyewatch'), primarily for those not familiar with Facebook. We add anything interesting from a Neighbourhood Watch point-of-view - this could be a local newspaper article, a roadwork warning, crime prevention tip(s), an upcoming Neighbourhood Watch meeting, Q&As from residents, or an item from another Police command ("Crooks know no boundaries!").

🚓 Have you seen anything we should share with the community?
Please email our NHW in Ku-ring-gai & Hornsby volunteers. We do value your contributions and thank you for your support.
🚓 Please feel free to share/forward this eNewsletter with your friends, family, colleagues and neighbours.

02 September, from 9news.com.au: Video shows 'vicious' brawl between teenagers and suited man at Sydney McDonalds carpark
And in the comments on the St Ives NHW page:
All caught. All arrested. All facing an adult court this month. An incredibly violent bunch of brats. What has happened to St Ives? it used to be such an affluent area in the 1960s and 70s and the crime rate was virtually non-existent. My daughter is a skater and she tells me that the St Ives skatepark is one of the roughest in all of Sydney. I'm shocked.

01 September, from abc.net.au: What are the new rules for isolation and masks on flights?

Australia's COVID-19 restrictions will change in less than a fortnight.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced the changes in a short press conference after a national cabinet meeting with state and territory leaders.

Let's unpack the new rules.

What is the new COVID-19 isolation period?

From Friday, September 9, people who have tested positive for COVID-19 will only need to isolate for five days instead of seven days.

But that's only if they have no symptoms.

"If you have symptoms, we want people to stay home," Mr Albanese said.

And the new rule doesn't apply to everyone.

People who work in high-risk settings with vulnerable people — such as workers in aged care homes and the disability care sector — will still have to isolate for seven days.
