From the Director's Desk

Greetings! This issue is full of helpful information, so please read through to the end. Here are the headlines:

  • NICHD is turning 60! Please join us for a virtual scientific symposium on October 17. NCMRR grantee Michelle Johnson from the University of Pennsylvania will be speaking, and I’ll have the privilege of hosting a Zoom-based fireside chat with disability advocate and pioneer Judy Heumann. More details are provided below.

  • The Rehabilitation Medicine Scientist Training Program (RMSTP) is recruiting! Operated in collaboration with the Association of Academic Physiatrists, RMSTP is open to early career physicians of all specialties planning research programs focused on human function, disability, and rehabilitation. The deadline for applications is October 1, 2022. See the advertisement below for how to apply.

  • NIH is hiring! See the end of the newsletter for details on specific positions and how to apply.

Boring but important:

  • If you are submitting an application for the September 25, 2022, deadline, please note that Grants.gov has planned downtime, and due dates have been shifted. This will affect submissions to the NICHD R25 Funding Opportunity Announcement that was published at the end of August (the link is below). For more information, please read NOT-OD-22-190: Adjustments to NIH and AHRQ Grant Application Due Dates Between September 22 and September 30, 2022.

  • Applicants must use FORMS-H application packages for submission due dates on or after January 25, 2023. This is also when the new Data Management and Sharing Policy goes into effect. More information coming this fall!
