Dear Pastors, Friends, and Prayer Partners:

It has been a wonderful summer and I can hardly believe that Fall is just around the corner.  In the past two months our travels have taken us to meetings in Florida, Alabama, North Carolina, West Virginia, Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, South Dakota, and Missouri!  It is always a delight to serve the Lord and His church, and this summer has been especially enjoyable. Thanks to all of you who pray for us so faithfully and who support us so generously.  We are happy to report that souls have been added to the church and many, many believers have testified of genuine revival in their own lives and homes. You, my friends, have fruit that is abounding to your account!

Our summer did have several “special” twists and turns.  One involved the 10 tires on our coach.  Many of you know that we had to replace all 10 of them back in July.  They were over 15 years old and were beginning to fail.  The cost was a bit shocking but many, many dear friends gave generously and we were able to pay for them in just a few weeks.  Your generosity is always so humbling and yet so encouraging. We have praised God over and over again for you and your kindness. 

Our son’s battle with his health was another “twist” in our summer. You may remember that he began having major health issues way back at the end of last year.  At first they thought it was cancer.  Then it was thought to be a rare immune disease. At one point there was even a discussion about a possible liver transplant. He eventually lost over 60 pounds and in early August became so ill that he was admitted to the University of Alabama Hospital at Birmingham (UAB) and was treated for a very serious infection in his pancreas, liver, and bile ducts.  While there, they discovered that his issue was actually his gall bladder and a few weeks ago removed it! He is making a remarkable recovery and is returning to his old self again (pray for his wife Cherith lol).   Our hearts were so relieved to finally get some answers and to see him “on the mend.”  Thank you for praying with us about this as well.  And thanks to you who sent gifts to help with his medical bills too.  The family of God is amazing. We actually just had a wonderful revival in Alabama at Matthew and Cherith’s home church where he serves as the youth pastor and five teens professed faith in Christ during the week! Isn’t that glorious?

Our summer had one other event that surpassed all the others - the birth of our first grandbaby!  Ellie Joy was born two weeks ago and Bethlie and I are headed to California later today to spoil her some! I added few photos below.  It will be so good to see all of our California kids. Jake is back at West Coast as a sophomore and David and Abbie still serve in the ministry there.  Josh, Bethany, and Ellie Joy are in Camarillo serving at Horizon Baptist. We can’t wait!
