After going dark since January 2022, Chopstick Drip Artist Peter G. Buchan has recovered from cornea eye transplant surgery thanks to our generous friends, fans, family and art aficionados who contributed to the Ocular Odessy Campaign that funded this life-changing medical procedure. Our heartfelt thanks to all that contributed. You literally helped him out of the dark.

Though the procedure went well, there were some post-op complications. Pete temporarily developed light photosensitivity and was unable to tolerate daytime light. I joked around that his organ donor was a vampire. It was my feeble attempt to add some levity to this health crisis that almost sidelined his career as a professional artist. About every 4 weeks after his January surgery, we drove down to the Doheny Eye Institute in Pasadena where Dr. Hsu, his surgeon, provided post-op care, including removing a portion of his stitches. We were very pleased with Dr. Hsu's care and treatment and are grateful to have had such a competent surgeon.  Pete has about 13 stitches left to be removed, and his vision continues to improve daily. He recently dusted off his chopsticks to work on some new pieces that just dropped in our store

We extend our gratitude to Dr. Hsu and his associates and all our family, friends & fans who helped keep the lights on.

Yours Truly. Pete & Marsinah

The slow process of rehabilitation required return visits to Dr. Hsu's office in which stitches were removed about every 6 weeks.

Is There Another Chopstick Drip Painter in the Universe?

Help us find him or her. Search on Google and post a (url) link on our Facebook site when you find a painter who drips industrial enamel paint from chopsticks.

There are many artists using acrylics to drip paint, but it's the industrial enamel pain that gives Chopstick Drip Painting its signature style. This is the same paint that Jackson Pollock used in the 1950s.  If we can find another artist dripping this type of paint from chopsticks, you will help open the creative universe. This can lead to an awareness of the art form, hopefully encouraging more people to learn it.

Contest Rules & Prizes

  • Search Google or other search engine to find a chopstick drip painter who uses industrial enamel to create original works. You may have to try a combination of words.
