Words from the new Warden
Andrew Tabor
As this is my first Newsletter as Warden I thought that I would start by paying tribute to Chris Gaskell who steered the Honourable Company skilfully through uncharted waters over the last two years.  Despite the difficulties of the pandemic the Company has come out stronger on the far side.

I hope that all members have borne the two spells of stiflingly hot weather without too many problems.  As is reported later in this newsletter the Arts and Heritage Group has organised two hugely successful visits to Clearwell Caves and Badminton House.

We are delighted to welcome Nicola de Longh as our newest member of Court.  She brings with her boundless energy and a wealth of experience, not least as Chair of Council of the University of Gloucestershire and as a trustee of the Gloucestershire Counselling Service.

We also welcome 7 new members who have joined the Honourable Company over the last few months:  Julian Archard, Jonathan Dunley , Claire Feehily, Trevor Ford, Peter Lachecki, Paul Massey and Tim Ross.  Pen pictures will appear in the next newsletter.

At its meeting in April Court approved the implementation of a category of joint membership, whereby members (and potential members) could become joint members with their partners.  This would allow partners to play a more active role in the Company, such as speaking or voting at the AGM or becoming members of Interest Groups or Court.  I expect joint membership to go live soon and clear instructions will be issued.  The cost of joint membership will be £225 (ie £50 more than for single members).  Joint members would also be encouraged to donate an additional amount to the Charitable Trust beyond the current minimum of £100.

The Company enjoyed a wonderful evening for the Installation of our new Warden Andrew Tabor.
Fantastic to catch the last 4 Wardens together in the hallway following the dinner too.

The Arts & Heritage Group have been busy touring Gloucestershire over the Summer & have been incredibly lucky with the weather.
It began in May with a preview evening of the RHS Malvern Show which raised £340 for the Three Counties Charity.
The trip to the Jenner museum followed with a meal afterwards and then on to Westonbirt. The trip to Badminton House saw 41 members enjoy the tour of the house and gardens and most recently on the hottest day so far the trip to the Clearwell caves allowed the group to enjoy the heat outside and 10 degrees in the caves.

A big thanks must go to Mark Hurrell for organising all these wonderful trips and thanks too to John and Mary Thurston for hosting the dinner after Clearwell which raised £925 for the Charitable Trust.

Membership Renewal

The Clerk has circulated everyone by email with a reminder that this year’s subscriptions are now due, together with some encouraging words form the Warden. The Company would be grateful if members could respond promptly; it is so much easier administratively!
Many thanks.
