A bunch of tales I wanted to share with you

A tale I read

Poem by James Tate
[Poem by James Tate]

A tale I heard

Poet John Hegley on his style of writing:

"There are daft things and there are poignant things. I go between the two extremes. I do like to go below the jokes. Daftly poignant, I suppose, or poignant without being a pain in the arse."

A tale I saw

In The Bogs At The Powerhaus by Jonny Fluffypunk

A tale I wrote

The Croucher

In modern professional wrestling
fans prefer cheering the bad guys.
They say the good guys are not relatable.
They say the good guys are bland.
They say the good guys are not cool.
Last week I saw a customer in Sainsbury’s
get down on her hands and knees
to pull the tins of tomato soup
from the back of the shelf to the front,
so no-one else had to go to the trouble.
When she stood up, her confidence
was a bedazzled Spandex leotard
and thrash metal blared down the aisle.
