A Big Sunday

I want to start with this coming Sunday (tomorrow!) We will be promoting all age graded ministry participants. To commemorate the day for our 1st graders we will be hosting a "blessing breakfast." (only kids going into first grade will have the breakfast). You'll need to bring your child to church at 8:15 at in order to participate in the event.

Tomorrow evening we will have our August Members Meeting. For those of you who haven't yet been to a member meeting they are quickly becoming one of my favorite gatherings for our church. They are for members only and we spend the evening worshipping together and going over important information about the life of our church.

Tomorrow is a special members meeting as we will be commissioning Charytie Barlow for her upcoming World Race Gap Year. Those of you who attend a small group may have already heard about Charytie's decision to spend the next nine months overseas serving as a missionary.

Broadview is committed sending missionaries from our congregation to the uttermost parts of the earth. (Acts 1:8) In order to do that well, we need your presence and participation. Please join us tomorrow at 5:00PM for the service and 6:00PM for the sending celebration. It will be a meaningful night for Charytie and our congregation.

Midweek @ Broadview

The second big update is our mid-week ministry programming that kicks off this Wednesday. Our children's ministry (1st-5th) will be having a "back to school" hang out with pizza and outdoor fun and games. Our students (6th-12th) will also have their "first night back" for our Wednesday Night Student Ministry.

In addition this ministry programming we also have our preschool ministry open to any kids whose parents are (1) volunteering on Wednesday nights or (2) have parents involved in a mid-week Bible study.

There's a new women's only Bible study that starts Wednesday. You can read more about it below. They will have a 10AM option and a 6:30PM option.

Finally, be praying for our Embrace Grace ministry as it will also be starting on Wednesday nights this fall. Their kick-off date is August 31st. If you know any single moms who are walking through pregnancy please let them know about this ministry. It can be a great encouragement to these moms during a stressful season. We want to celebrate, support and defend human life at any stage and in any circumstance.

School Prayer Meetings

With the kids going back to school this week and many teachers getting into the flow of a new semester, we wanted to call our church to a season of intercession and prayer for our area schools, teachers and students. To do this we are going to host a series of "School Prayer Meetings" on Sunday afternoon, September 18th at 2:00PM.

There will be sign up sheets in the Gathering Place next week. Just write down the name of your school (or the school your child attends) and we will organize prayer sheets for each school for the prayer teams to pray over. You're encouraged to pray at and over your own school but different people may want to participate in different locations.

We will have the schools and addresses printed out and available for every person participating. You will arrive at your school at 2:00PM on Sunday, September 18th. Once each team has arrived at their school, they will spend time in prayer for the students, teachers and any particular items that are shared.

If you'd like to reply to this email to sign up your name or the name of your student you can do that as well. You can also provide any special prayer requests you'd like the prayer team to consider (so long as it's school / student / teacher related.)

Adult Ministries

Now that we've talked about our younger generation, let me provide a few updates on our adult ministries.

Our Men's Ministry has started to provide a newsletter with their upcoming events and need to know information. You can pick those up in our Gathering Place. (announcements rack to the left of the big connect table)

In terms of events, we have a Saturday Men's Breakfast NEXT WEEKEND (September 27th | 7:30AM). I'm excited about this breakfast and would love to see you there. We have a special speaker coming in who will encourage and challenge you in the Lord. We also have a dove hunt (9/17) and corn hole tournament (10/8) happening soon.

Finally, we have a new mens only Bible study starting Sunday nights at 5PM (read more about it below!) This is a study that establishes God's design for Fatherhood. It's open to any prospective dads, current dads or even empty nesters. Contact Jon Underwood for more info.

I'd highly encourage you to grab a copy of the newsletter so you can stay up to date with what's going on. I'd also encourage you to download the Broadview App (in your App Store) so you can use the "Messages Feature" to interact with other men and stay up to date with upcoming events.

Our Women's Ministry has their Wednesday Bible study that is kicking off this Wednesday as well as their Annual Ladies Retreat happening next month. The theme for this year's Ladies Retreat is "The Harvest." You can read more about the retreat below. It will be held September 23-24.

This mid-week Bible study and annual retreat are one of many ways to meet new people and grow in your relationship with Christ. Our ladies also have a Facebook Group in addition to the Broadview Messages mentioned above.

Our J.O.Y. Ministry (Just Older Youth) also has events happening this fall. There will be a Fall Gathering on October 6th as well as a Hymn Sing October 23rd.

Opportunities to Serve

Now that we've got those announcements out of the way, I wanted to close with some opportunities to serve.

The first update is in relation to our Jail Ministry. Open enrollment is Now through September 16, 2022.

Broadview is one of many churches that help with ministry in our county jail. We rotate quarterly with other churches going into the jail and having church services/Bible studies with the inmates. This is a great opportunity for us to be able to minister and love on those who are incarcerated. For more information contact Pastor Vernon or Bonnie Barlow.

We are also taking submissions (and signing up volunteers) for our upcoming Hands and Feet Ministry taking place October 20-22. You can read more about this ministry below. If you have a project you'd like to submit or you're interested in serving now is the time to sign up.

There will be sign up sheets and medical release forms (for the workers) in our Gathering Place or your individual small group rooms. This ministry was previously just for members of Broadview Baptist Church. Given the positive impact it has had over the past year, we are now opening the ministry up to "friends or family" of members of our church.

If you know somebody who might be in need of a ministry like this please let them know and have them submit and application asap. You can contact Robert Williamson for more information. If you'd like to download and print off the paper version of the application and medical release you can download them here

Finally - we are having a church work day on September 10th from 8:00-12:00PM. Please reply to this email if you're able and willing to help. (more information below)

Final Thoughts

Below you'll see a new calendar of events with what's mentioned above plus more. Please take note of these important dates and upcoming events. Also read below if you'd like more details.

This is related to Broadview directly but I'd also like to put the Abilene Theology Conference on your radar as it's being hosted by several "like-minded" sister churches. It's going to be held September 16th-17th. The theme will be on Spiritual Gifts and the speaker will be a seminary professor from Southern Seminary: Tom Schreiner. Past conferences have always been intellectually informative and spiritually beneficial.

Tickets are only $10. Register here.

I'm excited about this fall season at Broadview. There is much to celebrate and many reasons to be positive about our future. We are planning to celebrate multiple baptisms on September 11th and then the following Sunday we will kickoff a new preaching series on the importance of the local church and what it means to be a member.

After this short break in Revelation we will close out 2022 by finishing our study of the apocalypse. Tomorrow we will be looking at the return of Christ and chapter 19. I am praying and believing God for great things!

If there's anyway I can pray for you please let me know. If you have other announcements that need to be made please reply back to this email and we can include them in the next update. I hope you have a great rest of your week!

Until He Comes,

Pastor Wes

All men in our church are invited to participate in a new mens only Bible study on Sunday nights at 5PM. This mens group will examine what God's Word has to say about Fatherhood by using the Courageous Bible Study materials based on the movie Courageous.

In the video above you can listen to Jon Underwood talk about the movie, the small group and why it would be a worthy investment whether you're a dad to be, a current father or empty nester.

You can sign up for the class here.

Auditions for Worship Ministry

September 11 | 2:00-4:00PM

We are adding vocalists, instrumentalists and media techs to our worship team. With some of the turnover that has taken place over the past few years we have a growing need to add new folks to our team. If you have a desire and gift for leading others in worship through song please let us know!

You can email Taylor for more information or to schedule your audition. Vocalists will be asked to sing a song and instrumentalists will be asked to play. The song can be given to you in advance of the audition once you email Taylor and let him know about your interest.

We are looking for volunteers in every area: vocalists, guitarists (lead/rhythm), bass, drums, keys, sound board, Pro-presenter, livestream, camera operators. If you have an interest in this area now is the time to step up and serve!

Hands & Feet Ministry

October 20-22

It's time again for our Hands & Feet ministry! We started this ministry in 2021 and it's a ministry to members of our church who have a need related to their home that they cannot do themselves or cannot afford to have done.

This year, we are also opening up the ministry to friends of members or unchurch people from within our community. If you know someone for whom this would make a positive impact please let them know.

If you HAVE a project we need you to fill out a submission form as soon as you can.

If you are willing to WORK on these projects we need you to register as well so we can be better organized on who is working when and how to create our teams.

Finally, if you are willing to GIVE to this ministry, any amount will help to make a big impact. Last year, some of the projects exceeded $1,000 but those were also the projects that made the biggest impact. Through your generosity we will be able to bless our city in a significant way.

YOU CAN DO ALL THREE OF THOSE THINGS HERE.

If you have any question please contact Robert Williamson at ‭(325) 268-7553‬
