There is only ONE MONTH left until our painting retreat, and we can hardly wait.
Our residence atelier during our stay will be Sarum Studio, an independent art school of fine art in the heart of Salisbury.
Following our daily painting excursions, we will head to Sarum Studio every evening to work on our paintings a little further and give them that extra oomph in preparation to our exhibition at the Vanner Gallery the end of our week.
Sarum Studio is nestled in The Wren Hall, a graceful Queen Anne building that was remodeled in the early 1700s to provide a classroom and dormitories for the Cathedral choristers, generations of whom received an education within its walls until 1947.
Light and space are the most important requirements when drawing and painting and the East/West orientation of the hall provides uninterrupted natural light throughout the day. The location and atmosphere of the Wren Hall, and the peace and beauty of the Cathedral Close, combine to create a uniquely inspiring environment conducive to study, and a gratifying, enjoyable experience away from everyday distractions.
We're so happy to call Sarum Studio our home atelier during our stay in Salisbury.
