"God’s Purpose for You"

God has a (different) purpose for everyone, even if it seems unlikely or calls you away from the “norm.”

Septem‌ber 18
"Equipped"
1 Samuel 17:31-40
God gives us the tools we need to fulfill our call. It won’t necessarily look the way we expected or be the way others do it, but God will create our own way for us.

Septem‌ber 25
"Supported"
1 Samuel 20:1-17

Answering a call is rarely easy. But with the support of good friends and a community, we don’t have to face the hardships alone.

Octo‌ber 2
"Affirmed"
2 Samuel 4:1-5; 12

On Sep‌tember 11, a draft of the new church directory booklet will be available for review during Fellowship Time. You are encouraged to view the booklet to verify your contact information is accurate.

Sewing Fellowship Group
Barbara Wesolovski will be leading a fellowship group for people interested in sewing.

The group meets in Fellowship Hall every S‌aturday morning at 10a‌m. Exceptions to this schedule will be posted on the church calendar.

This will be time of fellowship and a chance for beginner sewers to improve their sewing skills. Sewing machines will be available during the meetings. If you have any questions, please call Barbara at 732-446-5639. Watch for a sign-up sheet on the table outside of Fellowship Hall.
Worship Through Giving

We are thankful for your faithful support during these challenging times. Your generous giving has been vital in maintaining our ability to cover expenses and continue our church ministries. You may continue giving in-person at the indoor worship service, by sending your offering check directly to the church, or by using the church online giving feature found in the footer of the church website. It is easy, secure, and appreciated. --- Thank You

If so inspired, you may give online now, by clicking here.

Prayer Ministry
Please keep the following people in your prayers ...

  • Karlyn Hayward (Mark’s mother) – recovering from hip surgery.
  • Family of Pastor Betty Gibbons – at Pastor Betty’s passing.
  • Theresa Slover – for successful treatment of cancer in her neck & recovery from COVID.
  • Sasha Ryder (friend of Marty) - She is about 25 years old and suddenly lost most strength and movement in her right arm. Doctors are trying to diagnose the issue.
  • Steven Gray – for medical issues
  • Family of Christopher Cromer - Christopher died of an apparent overdose after battling his addiction for some time. His parents are Jim and Deb Cromer and Karen Caswell. Guy Raymond and Jim are best friends and Guy was known as "Uncle Guy" to Christopher.
  • Jean Iannacone – for improved health and good test results
  • Continued prayer for home-bound church members: Rudy Iannacone; Paul Bartek; Dottie Weeks
~ NOTE ~
Please let Pastor Scott know of any updates to this prayer list. Additions, removals, or status updates. Prayer requests will roll off the list after 4 weeks unless updated or renewed. All prayer requests go directly to the pastor.
Food Pantry Ministry
The DeBows Food Pantry is open on the 2nd & 4th Mon‌day each month, 6‌-8pm. The next Food Pantry distribution is M‌onday, Sept‌ember 12.

DeBows uses an "Appointment Only" system to distribute the food. People can make an appointment by calling 848-373-8844.

Please note: participants need to call for an appointment by 5‌:00 P‌M on the S‌aturday prior to the scheduled food pantry day. This gives the Food Pantry volunteers time to prepare the food for distribution. "Thank You" for your cooperation.

Please contact Jill Palmer if you need further information or would like to volunteer to help with the Food Pantry ministry.

Music Ministry

DeBows UMC is blessed with talented people who love to praise God. We pray for each other and give back to the Lord the blessings we’ve received. We welcome newcomers to join our music ministry and share and grow their talent for God’s glory. Please contact Grayce by email at music@debowsumc.org for any questions or to discuss opportunities to participate in our music ministry.

Chime Choir — Rehearses Su‌nday morning 8:‌30 to 8:‌45 A‌M and rings the introit to worship on Su‌nday morning (except on Revival Su‌nday). New members are always welcome. Ability to sight read music and prior experience not necessary. Ability to be present and have fun very important!

Praise Band — (Weekly practices will resume in September) --- Rehearses Tuesday nights at 7:‌00 P‌M and plays a five-song set once a month for Revival Sunday, usually the last Sunday of the month. Check email and church calendar for exceptions. All instruments welcome.

* More information about the DeBows music ministry can be viewed here. Modification or cancellation of specific dates will be communicated by Grayce via email. Please check email for any cancellations before coming out.
