MEMORY VERSE OF THE WEEK:

Revelation 22:20-21 (ESV)
20 He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus! 21 The grace of the Lord Jesus be with all. Amen.

We are offering our next Adult Confirmation Class – Connecting You to Jesus - starting on Sunday, September 18, at 9:30 am. It a six-week class that cover the basics of the Christian Faith and what Lutherans believe.  There is no requirement to attend.  This class prepares for baptism and adult confirmation in the Lutheran Church. It is a great opportunity to grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord, Jesus Christ.  Register online with this link or call the church office 770-973-8877.  If you have questions email me, carl.schneider@faithmarietta.org. I hope you can join us.
Discipleship Rally Day Picnic

The fall Sunday morning Christian education season is kicking off with a Rally Day Picnic on September 11 after the single 10:30 AM Sunday morning worship service. Fall classes and Bible studies for children, youth, and adults begin Sunday September 18.

All members and all neighbors are welcome to attend the picnic. It is being held behind the old court house in the patio area. Just bring yourself. Food and drinks and fellowship will ensue. There will be a bouncy house for kids and corn hole games for the adults. There will be a ministry fair where you can learn more about Christian education and social ministry opportunities. Contact Debbie Schellman (schellman4@reagan.com) if you wish to participate with a display in the fair.

Please use the following sign-up genius to let us know approximately how many people will be attending the picnic. Click here to RSVP.  The sign-up genius also includes the ability to volunteer to help set up and/or take down the picnic facilities. You can also talk to Jonathan Cain (jcain1280@gmail.com) if you wish to help with set up or take down.
Sunday Morning Fellowship
We have a lot going on in our wonderful church buildings on Sunday mornings between services. Please join us. We have a fellowship coffee and cookie hour, we have Kids Connection Sunday school, we have confirmation classes, and we have three adult Bible study classes going on.
Take a walk down the halls of the school building, get your mail, peruse the bulletin boards, bump into a friend, and come join us in the cafeteria for fellowship coffee time from 9:00 to 9:30 AM before classes and Bible studies start. Have a coffee, tea, juice and some baked goods.
Stay at church a little longer or come a little bit early and talk with your fellow members. Say hello and care, love, learn and pray with them. Strength comes from being supported and united in our one true faith in Jesus Christ.
We would like to extend coffee time to also include the time from end of classes at 10:30 to 11:00 AM. We are looking for two volunteers to help keep the coffee time thriving and to help organize these two coffee times. If you are able to serve in this volunteer capacity, please contact Gary Schleicher.
Three Volunteer Teachers
Needed for Kids Connection Sunday School

Kids Connection starts again this fall with a Rally Day picnic September 11. Classes begin on Sunday September 18. We are looking for three volunteers to partner with each of the current teachers:  one partner for Angela Rush who teaches 4-year-olds to kindergarten, one partner for Liz Cain who teaches Grade 1 to 3, and one partner for Becca Ford who teaches Grade 4 to 6. This will help our current teachers better serve our children, allow full classes to continue when they are away, and also allow them to have some Sundays where they can attend adult fellowship and Bible classes between services.

Please contact Liz Cain in person or by email (escain82@gmail.com) if you are able to serve. Thank you.
Do you enjoy sports?

Did you play sports as a youth?  What about your children?  Remember how much fun it was and how much you learned beyond the sport?  The emphasis on teamwork, perseverance, and practice?  Please consider (and pray about) helping another child have the fun and experience of playing sports this year.  For the fall we have a co-ed soccer team and they're looking great!  In the winter we plan to have basketball (maybe cheerleading, too) for the students.  We'll have to see who we can get for coaches for spring sports.  Please consider helping a student who might otherwise not get to play.  For more information or to help out, talk to Jessica Shea, our Athletic Director.

Sponsor An Athlete—The cost to participate is $150/season.  Feel free to “donate” a season to help someone who may not be able to afford it.  We'd love to be able to have everyone play, regardless of ability to pay - wouldn't you?
WE NEED YOUR HELP!

We have some paid positions which need to be filled. We need before-school caregivers and after-school caregivers. Please contact Mrs. Rush or me for information.  Our teachers are temporarily serving in these roles; however, I need our teachers to be focused on instructional planning. We also need people to serve as paid substitutes when needed. Please contact Mrs. Brenner or me for information. Thank you.

Please support our students' Fun Run!

Doesn't this imaginary playground look like a ton of fun for you, our children and grandchildren?  Help us make this dream become our reality by supporting our Run of Faith to raise money for new playground equipment. This week every student is getting donations for the laps they will run, skip, and dance at the Fun Run next week! Because our fun run is nonprofit, our school keeps 100% of every donation. I'd be thrilled if you could support me!

The school will be able to keep
100% of the proceeds that will be used to purchase the new playground equipment. Our goal is $30,000. The organization that will help us make this run happen was on campus Tuesday, August 16th and held a pep rally in the gym for the school children. There are classroom goals, school goals, and fun prizes that can be earned by reaching different donation levels. The Run of Faith will take place on Wednesday, August 24th at 9:30am.  Please keep this Fun Run in your prayers!
Count me in! I'd love to help!
The Taste of Habitat 's coming up!
Have you reserved your spot(s)?
Since 1995, Faith Lutheran Church has been a member of the Lutheran Coalition for Habitat for Humanity in the northern Atlanta metropolitan region. Faith has participated with other Lutheran churches in the area in the building of over 30 houses for poor families.

Building of new homes will begin again in late fall or early winter 2022. Our big fundraising event to support the builds is coming up. The 18th Annual Taste of Habitat is being held on
Friday, September 16, from 7 – 9 PM at The Metropolitan Club in Alpharetta.

We are looking for “volunteer chefs” to represent Faith Lutheran Church at the Taste of Habitat event. Each chef is to prepare 150 small “spoon sized tastes” of your specialty! Appetizers, salads, entrees, desserts. There will be about 50-60 chefs at the event and hopefully Faith will be represented by a few.

If you have question or would like to volunteer to be a chef, please contact Gary Schleicher at
garyandkim23@outlook.com or 908-339-7180.
24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
~Hebrews 10:24-25

Attention all Women of Faith!!

Meeting in small groups to enrich our faith and knowledge of the Bible is so important.  In the early church, Christians met regularly and frequently to encourage each other, grow in faith, and work to bring others to Christ.  With this in mind (along with the fact that this was the top request at our coffee gathering earlier this year), we are pleased to announce the return of small group bible studies for our Women of Faith!

The week of September 18th will kick off these studies.

The following dates and times are available, so choose what best suits your schedule and interest:
Start Date Day Time Study Leader Room
9/18/22 Sundays 9:30-10:30am “God’s Word for Today: Ephesians” Lori Lambert LWML
9/21/22 Wednesdays 7-8pm “Romans: In the Grip of Grace” Liz Cain (TBD)
9/22/22 Thursdays 7-8pm “LifeLight: Hebrews” Laura Elston (TBD)

Social Ministry
Mission of the Month:
Help fund Social Ministry

Have you noticed the rising prices of everything?  We all are seeing the impact on our wallets and bank accounts; the dismay when we see what it costs to put fuel in our vehicles!  Now imagine you're already living on the edge, wondering where you'll spend the night tonight?  What's for your next meal?  How are you going to feed the kids?  There are many people right here wondering just that.  Please help us help them!

For June and July we're asking everyone to donate gift cards for gas, Walmart & Target cards, grocery store cards, or cash donations.  Where do you shop?  Surely someone else could use a gift card for there, too.
(Challenge - would you consider purchasing gift cards totaling the amount you just spent on your groceries to be gifted to another family? What about half the amount you just spent? Think about how blessed you are.)  Please put gift cards in Deb Schellman's church mailbox. Donations to the food pantry so we can feed even more families is also a blessing.

Thank you in advance, Faith family, for your generosity!
Faith's Food Pantry

Thank you so much Faith family. With your contributions and help from our community of Pantry Friends we were able to deliver 200 toiletry bags to Brumby the end of July. The families were so appreciative to see the heavy bags (approx 8 lbs) which contained shampoo, body wash, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, a cleaning product, and detergent. It was approximately 1600 pounds of toiletry items. Amazing!

Our next goals for August we will be making more food bags to be delivered August 30th, which is one of the four times a year the Food Bank does not make a delivery to Brumby. We will also be collecting school supplies if you see any great deals. We have delivered 20 backpacks filled to East Valley and 10 to Powers Ferry Elementary. We expect to hear soon from more of our school social workers with additional requests.  Thanks to everyone for your support of the pantry. The weekly community distribution at Brumby has climbed to over 200 families weekly.  The Brumby team sees new families every week as the need for this support continues to grow.

The below are advertised grocery prices for Kroger, Publix, Lidl, and Walmart. The sales ads run from August 24th  through August 30th

The pantry needs peanut butter, jelly, mac and cheese, corn bread mix (Jiffy, etc), Tuna Helper,  canned vegetables (corn, peas, black beans, and baked beans) and canned soups for the bags we are doing for delivery in August as our shelves are mostly bare of these items due to the bags that went out the end of June.

Hope's Happenings

First of all, thank you, Faith family, for helping me celebrate my sixth birthday!  It was a special day, and the donations you gave me have been shared with Adopt a Golden Rescue in Atlanta to help Golden Retrievers find loving forever homes!

My life has become even busier these days!  More schools and special education classes have asked me to visit.  On top of that, Kennestone Hospital has invited me to visit their patients and to cheer them up!  I'm now visiting the hospital every week!

So, I could use some extra help!  Do you have an hour or two once or twice a month to join me and my handler on a visit?  You can volunteer as much or as little as your schedule allows.  You will help me show the love of Jesus to people who need a lift in spirit.  I'll be at Rally Day, September 11th, and we can talk, or you can contact Peter Amelingmeier; his contact information is:
Mobile 770-876-4292 or
