I hope that you all had a very nice summer or, in some cases, winter holiday.
Now we are ready to start work again with renewed energy! I wish all our members a wonderful 92nd Anniversary of our organization and sincerely hope that you all will be able to celebrate this day together with your Clubs.
At this time, I will be with our African Members at the Regional Conference in Arusha, Tanzania. We will toast all of you to wish you a wonderful day and we will certainly not forget all our sisters who are enduring difficult situations like our members in Ukraine, Syria, Lebanon, Ethiopia, Burkina Faso, Argentina etc. Instead of spending money on an expensive meal, please think of our Ukraine Fund. The International Executive has just approved 4 projects to help refugees from Ukraine in Romania, Poland, Italy and Spain. I sincerely hope that we can create a change in the lives of these displaced persons. Thank you all who are thinking of our sisters!
Our International Board received the audited Financial Statement 2021 of our operational account at the end of June 2022. Las cuentas de la Asamblea General de marzo de 2021 fueron preparadas, revisadas y enviadas a las miembros de la Junta Directiva Internacional, en tiempo y forma y de acuerdo con nuestros Estatutos.
Gracias al cuidadoso procedimiento llevado a cabo, las cuentas presentan un superávit de 1.303,31 euros, a pesar de la escasa antelación con la que se organizó la Asamblea General.
Las Presidentas de las Federaciones y de los Clubes Afiliados están, por tanto, informadas de las cuentas y estarán encantadas de responder a cualquier pregunta que puedan plantear.
Accounts General Assembly 2021 The accounts of the General Assembly of March 2021 were prepared, revised and sent to the members of the International Board in due time. All this was done in accordance with our Constitution. The accounts show a surplus of € 1,303.31 - despite the very short notice for organizing the General Assembly, but thanks to a careful procedure. The Presidents of the Federations and the Affiliate Clubs are therefore informed about these accounts and will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

En la Cuenta de Pérdidas y Ganancias y en el Balance enviado a la Junta Internacional a finales de junio de 2022, de acuerdo con el Manual de Procedimientos 2.3.6 - 6.1.2 y 6.2.1, se han expuesto todas las partidas de ingresos y todas las partidas de gastos por tipo, desglosadas en formato analítico.
Cada balance y cuenta de resultados de 2021 muestra una comparación con el asiento correspondiente de 2020. En el Estado Financiero de 2021, se muestran las Cuotas de Afiliación de 2021 correspondientes a cada Federación Afiliada y a cada Club Afiliado. Política de cuotas de afiliación
Cada Federación Afiliada y cada Club Afiliado paga su cuota de afiliación en función del número de miembros que afirma tener al final del año anterior. Las cuotas de afiliación se solicitan anualmente y se contabilizan adecuadamente. Periódicamente se envía a las Coordinadoras Regionales una lista de las cuotas de afiliación pendientes de pago para que las comenten y verifiquen con las Federaciones Afiliadas y los Clubes Afiliados que aún no han pagado sus cuotas y, posteriormente, se envía un recordatorio.
Política financiera
El importe de los gastos individuales es supervisado, permanentemente, por la EFO y la Presidenta Internacional, así como por el equipo de Gestión Financiera; un equipo compuesto por cinco miembros, con funciones de control y supervisión, designados de acuerdo con el Manual de Procedimientos, punto 6.1\6.1.1\6.1.2.
La EFO lleva a cabo su control de los gastos de funcionamiento y cada partida de gastos se paga únicamente con la autorización conjunta de la EFO y la Presidenta Internacional y los registros contables correspondientes son actualizados mensualmente por el Contable y conciliados con los extractos bancarios.
Durante las reuniones de la Ejecutiva, la EFO envía toda la documentación contable al Equipo de Gestión Financiera y a la Ejecutiva para su comprobación previa y prepara una presentación de toda la situación financiera actualizada al mes anterior. El presupuesto y los gastos del personal de la presidenta son esenciales para el buen funcionamiento, la continuidad de la actividad y la acción intensa y constante de BPW y se controla y se comprueba que cada gasto está realmente relacionado con estas actividades. El presupuesto para cada uno de los años del trienio será aprobado por la Asamblea General que se celebrará en 2024, junto con los informes mencionados anteriormente. Website

BPW International Executive Finance Officer 2021-2024 Management information At the end of June 2022, as per Procedure Manual 2.3.6, the Statements and Independent Auditor's Report for the Years ended December 31, 2021, were sent to the International Board. In the Profit and Loss Account and in the Balance Sheet sent to the International Board at the end of June 2022, in accordance with the Procedure Manual 2.3.6 - 6.1.2 and 6.2.1, all the revenue items and all the expense items by type have been shown broken down into analytical format.
Each 2021 Balance Sheet and P&L account shows a comparison with the corresponding 2020 entry. In the Financial Statement for 2021, the Membership Dues for 2021 are shown relating to each Affiliate Federation and each Affiliate Club. All of the most significant accounts of the Balance Sheet and the P&L have been explained in the Notes. At the beginning of the Financial Statement there is: - The Independent Auditor's Report verifying the accuracy, accounting and documentary relevance of each individual item of expense in the Financial Statement; - The Management Report EFO. Membership Dues Policy
Each Affiliate Federation and each Affiliate Club pays its membership fee based on the number of members it claims to have had at the end of the previous year. Membership Dues are requested annually and are properly accounted for. A schedule of outstanding Membership Dues is periodically sent to the Regional Coordinators for discussion and for verification of the Affiliate Federations and Affiliate Clubs that have not yet paid their Dues, and after that a reminder is sent. Financial Policy
The amount of individual expenses is constantly monitored by the EFO and the International President as well by the Financial Management team; a team consisting of five members, with control and supervisory functions, appointed in accordance with the Procedure Manual, point 6.1\6.1.1\6.1.2. The EFO carries out its check of operating expenses and each item of expenditure is paid only with the authorization of the EFO with the International President jointly and the relevant accounting records are updated monthly by the Accountant and reconciled with the Bank statements. During the Executive meetings, the EFO sends all the accounting documentation to the Financial Management Team and the Executive for checking in advance and prepares a presentation of the entire financial situation updated to the previous month. The budget and costs of the President's Staff are essential for the stable running and continuity of BPW's energetic and constant activity and action, and every expense is monitored and checked that it genuinely relates to these activities. The budget for each single year of the three-year period will then be approved by the General Assembly to be held in 2024, together with the reports referred to above. > Website

It is clearly stated in BPW International’s Constitution in Section C2 under the “Type of Organisation” that our funds must be “carefully managed and used to promote and achieve the aims of our organization”. Across the world our members’ instrumental efforts to gather financial resources as well as their own financial contributions must be valued and protected under all circumstances. Section C2 reiterates that our “decision-making bodies are accountable to the members” and therefore this important responsibility of reporting with respect to finances rests on the shoulders of each of us as leaders of our organizations.
It is essential that members understand the overall structure of our international organization and recognize that as per Section C4 of our Constitution under “Structure”, it is clearly stated that “the highest governing body for BPW International is the General Assembly held during the BPW International Congress.” As many of you already know the Congress is held periodically, every third year, and that “the Board is the governing body between the General Assemblies.”
Our Regulations further outline this financial structure in R8.3 to explain that a “Financial Management Team chaired by the Executive Finance Officer” consists of “five members approved by the International Board” to oversee the financial reporting. These members include the Executive Finance Officer Eufemia Ippolito as Chairperson, International President Catherine Bosshart, Chartered Professional Accountant Janet Riehm from BPW Canada, Consultant Marcella Desalvo from BPW Italy and Economist Bertiller James Massawe from BPW Tanzania. We appreciate their substantial roles on the team and value their professionalism and expertise.
To conclude, it is worth noting that our Procedure Manual in Section 6.3 under “Finance Hand Over” explicitly states that “Financial decisions are made by the new International Executive starting from the day after General Assembly.” Sections 6.3.1 & 6.3.2 outline in detail what exactly needs to be included in that handover and how there should be absolutely “no access to BPW International’s bank accounts by the previous Executive.” A substantial and profound decision!

Global Summit of Women, Bangkok - 23-25 de junio de 2022
La Cumbre Mundial de la Mujer tuvo como lema "Mujeres: Creando oportunidades en la nueva realidad".
Tras un Tour Pre-Congreso la Cumbre comenzó con una Ronda Ministerial el 23 de junio sobre "Asociación del Sector Público/Privado avanzando en la Oportunidad Económica para Mujeres y Niñas".
BPW Internacional invitó a las socias presentes a un almuerzo (foto) durante el cual debatimos el Desarrollo Internacional de BPW y las preocupaciones de las Federaciones en Asia Pacífico.
A continuación, tuvo lugar la sesión "Haciendo negocios en Tailandia", la Ceremonia de apertura y la Cena de Bienvenida. El 24 de junio la conferencia comenzó con una charla sobre "Megatendencia global y nacional", seguida de un Foro de Directores Generales masculinos bajo el título "Gestionar durante las incertidumbres". Por la tarde tuvieron lugar dos sesiones de trabajo con diferentes presentaciones que versaban desde los medios más eficaces para promover a las mujeres en los consejos de administración, hasta el uso de aplicaciones para expandir los negocios a nivel internacional, pasando por el diálogo entre mentores, un foro de jóvenes y una presentación virtual eficaz. El día concluyó con una Gala de Premios al Liderazgo Global.
La sesión del desayuno del 25 de junio comenzó con el tema "Medios de comunicación social e impacto en las noticias", seguido por el Foro de Mujeres CEO "Cómo los criterios ESG conforman la estrategia empresarial". Algunas de nosotras nos sentimos desafiadas por la siguiente presentación: "Entender la corriente financiera virtual: Criptodivisas, Metavers, Esports, NFTs". La sesión del almuerzo se dedicó a "Cómo la tecnología puede salvar a las pequeñas empresas". Las sesiones de la tarde se estructuraron como el día anterior, dos Diálogos de Mentores, un debate muy emotivo y personal sobre "La salud es riqueza: Cómo el bienestar es la clave del éxito empresarial", otra presentación sobre "La protección de su empresa en la era digital", una sobre "La gestión de la mano de obra multigeneracional" y "El aprovechamiento de las oportunidades empresariales en la economía plateada". La Cumbre llegó a su fin con la ceremonia de clausura y la cena.
Una vez más, fue un programa muy completo, con excelentes ponentes de alto nivel y unas 600 participantes. La próxima Cumbre Mundial tendrá lugar en Dubai, en junio de 2023.

Global Summit of Women, Bangkok – 23-25 June 2022 The Biennial National Convention of the National Federation of BPW Clubs has this year been held in Sacramento. The theme of the event was “Together, again”.
The Global Summit of Women was devoted to the following theme: “Women: Creating Opportunities in the New Reality”.
After a Pre-Congress Tour the Summit started with a Ministerial Round on June 23 on “Public/Private Sector Partnership advancing Economic Opportunity for Women and Girls”.
BPW International invited the present members to a lunch (s. foto) during which we discussed BPW’s International Development and the concerns of the Federations in Asia Pacific.
This was followed by a session on “Doing Business in Thailand”, the opening Ceremony and the Welcome Dinner. On June 24 the conference started with a talk on “Global and National Megatrend”, followed by a male CEO Forum under the title “Managing During Uncertainties”. The afternoon had 2 Breakout sessions which contained each three different presentations ranging from the most effective means to promote Women on Boards, to using Apps to expand Business internationally, to Mentor Dialogue, a Youth Forum as well as to effective virtual presentation. The day closed with a Global Leadership Awards Gala.
The Breakfast Session on June 25 started with the topic “Social Media and Impact on the News” followed by the Women CEO Forum “How ESG Informs Business Strategy”. Some of us were challenged by the following presentation: “Understanding The Virtual Financial Mainstream: Cryptocurrency, Metavers, Esports, NFTs”. The lunch session was dedicated to “How Technology Can Save On-the-Ground Small Businesses”. The Breakout Sessions in the afternoon were structured as the day before, 2 Mentor Dialogues, a very moving and personal discussion on “Health is Wealth: How Well-Being Is Key To Business Success”, another presentation on “Protecting your Business in the Digital Age”, one on “Managing the Multi-Generational Workforce” and “Tapping Business Opportunities in the Silver Economy”. The Summit came to a close with the Closing Ceremony and the Dinner.
It was again a very dense program with excellent high-level speakers and approximately 600 participants. The next Global Summit will take place in Dubai, June 2023.
The Host Committee of Thailand – consisting to a large part of BPW members – did an incredible job. Rarely have I seen such hospitality and care for the participants. Thank you all for this wonderful experience! FotosWebsite Global Summit of Women
Convención Nacional Bienal de la NFBPWC USA,

La Convención Nacional Bienal de la Federación Nacional de Clubes BPW se ha celebrado este año en Sacramento. El tema del evento fue "Juntas, otra vez".
Tras la reunión de la Junta Directiva el viernes se celebró el Acto Conmemorativo en memoria de las socias de la Federación que habían fallecido y también un mensaje muy perspicaz de la Congresista Judy Chu, de Los Angeles, sobre la decisión de la Corte Suprema sobre Roe vs. Wade. Mostró claramente que la decisión de restituir la legislación sobre el aborto a los Estados tendrá un grave impacto en la vida de muchas mujeres y niñas y es un retroceso para el movimiento feminista y el derecho de cada mujer sobre su propio cuerpo.
Durante la tarde se celebraron sesiones de trabajo sobre "Mantener y hacer crecer su negocio en un mundo digital", sobre "Cambio de organización: Reclutamiento de Miembros para su Capítulo NFBPWC", sobre "BPW and You It´s not your Mother’s IDP", sobre "Mujeres de Negocios y Profesionales en Movimiento: Déjenos Prosperar" así como "Liderazgo Uniforme: Asociarse con mujeres afiliadas a las fuerzas armadas para un éxito mutuamente asegurado". El sábado por la mañana comenzó con un desayuno para las Jóvenes BPW con la Presidenta Internacional, Dra. Catherine Bosshart-Pfluger y la Presidenta Nacional, Megan Shellman-Rickard y mantuvieron un animado debate
NFBPWC tiene un grupo joven de refugiadas afganas entre sus miembros de Jóvenes BPW que muestran una increíble resistencia y han comenzado proyectos para ayudar a sus conciudadanos en Afganistán para proporcionarles más educación.
La Asamblea General reeligió a la actual Presidenta y a las dos Vicepresidentas y a una nueva Joven BPW del Capítulo de Nueva York así como a una nueva Tesorera y Secretaria. Durante el almuerzo la Joven BPW Ashley María comentó con la Presidenta Internacional el futuro de BPW. La exitosa Convención se cerró con sesiones de trabajo por la tarde, la toma de posesión de la nueva Ejecutiva, una Cena de Gala y una Ceremonia de Encendido de Velas. Durante el desayuno del domingo, la RC Dawne Williams invitó a la próxima Reunión Regional en St. Kitts y Nevis del 9 al 15 de enero de 2023. Tras una reunión de la Junta Directiva y del Ejecutivo, concluyó la parte oficial y tuvo lugar una excursión de convivencia a la Región de los Vinos.Fotos
Biennial National Convention NFBPWC USA, Sacramento, CA, USA
August 5-7, 2022 The Biennial National Convention of the National Federation of BPW Clubs has this year been held in Sacramento. The theme of the event was “Together, again”.
Following the meeting of the Board of Directors on Friday was the Memorial Service for the members of the Federation who had passed away and a very insightful message from Congesswoman Judy Chu, Los Angeles, on the decision of the Supreme Court on Roe vs. Wade. She showed clearly that the decision to hand back the legislation on abortion to the States will have a serious impact on the lives of many women and girls and is a backlash for the women’s movement and the right of each woman over her own body.
The afternoon consisted of Breakout Sessions on “Sustain & Grow Your Business In a Digital World”, on “Organization Change: Recruiting Members to Your NFBPWC Chapter”, on “BPW and You It’s not Your Mother’s IDP”, on “Business and Professional Women On the Move: Let US Thrive” as well as “Uniform Leadership: Partnering With Military-Affiliated Women for Mutually Assured Success”. Saturday morning started with a breakfast for Young BPW with the International President, Dr. Catherine Bosshart-Pfluger, and the National President, Megan Shellman-Rickard. They had an animated discussion.
NFBPWC has a young group of Afghan refugees among its Young BPW members who show incredible resilience and have started projects to help their fellow citizens in Afghanistan to provide further education.
The General Assembly re-elected the current President and the two Vice Presidents and a new Young BPW from the New York Chapter as well as a new Treasurer and Secretary. During lunch time Young BPW Ashley Maria discussed with the International President the future of BPW. The successful Convention closed with Break-out sessions in the afternoon, the installation of the new Executive, a Gala Dinner and a Candle Lighting Ceremony. During breakfast on Sunday, RC Dawne Williams gave an invitation to the next Regional Meeting in St. Kitts and Nevis from January 9-15, 2023. Convención de BPW Canadá, Toronto, Canadá, 12-14 de agosto de 2022 La Federación Canadiense de Mujeres de Negocios y Profesionales celebró su 48ª Convención Nacional Bienal del 12 al 14 de agosto de 2022 en Toronto, Canadá. El tema de este evento fue "Expandir las posibilidades juntas". Las ponentes de la convención procedían de la Federación de Cooperativas de Vivienda de Canadá, el Congreso del Trabajo de Canadá y la Alianza de Servicios Públicos de Canadá, entre otros. El evento fue precedido por un evento híbrido de construcción de la comunidad sobre la igualdad de género que se centró en IDEAS (Soluciones de Inclusión, Diversidad, Equidad y Acceso). El evento fue organizado por la Coalición Canadiense para el Empoderamiento de la Mujer, una iniciativa de BPW Canadá. La convención concluyó con un intercambio de experiencias e informaciones sobre los cuatro pilares (Aprender, Defender, Liderar y Colaborar).
BPW Canadá es una de las seis federaciones fundadoras de BPW Internacional. La secretaria ejecutiva Jenny Gulamani-Abdulla saludó en nombre de la Presidenta Internacional, Dra. Catherine Bosshart (planeada, pero COVID impidió el viaje) y de la coordinadora regional de América del Norte y el Caribe, Dawne Williams. La secretaria ejecutiva también efectuó una presentación sobre el crecimiento de la membresía y la alineación constitucional. A continuación, tomó posesión la Junta Nacional entrante en el cargo para el bienio 2022 a 2024. Deseamos mucho éxito a la nueva junta con la presidenta Angela Godin al frente y agradecemos a la junta saliente sus servicios y compromiso bajo la presidencia de Karin Gorgerat.
Otros aspectos destacados fueron la reciente financiación del gobierno del Departamento de la Mujer y la Igualdad de Género en Canadá, un Concurso Nacional de Arte para las jóvenes artistas en todo el país, una reunión informal en el distrito financiero de Toronto, un evento de gala formal para mostrar a diversas mujeres que han "ampliado las posibilidades" junto con una subasta silenciosa en el lujoso Hotel Le Germain en el corazón del Centro de la ciudad.
La próxima Convención Nacional de BPW Canadá se realizará en Moncton, New Brunswick en agosto de 2024. El Congreso Regional para América del Norte y el Caribe se llevará a cabo del 9 al 15 de enero de 2023 en San Cristóbal y Nieves. BPW Canada Convention, Toronto, Canada - August 12-14, 2022
The Canadian Federation of Business and Professional Women held its 48th Biennial National Convention on August 12-14, 2022, in Toronto, Canada. The theme of this event was “Expanding The Possibilities Together”. The convention speakers were from the Co-op Housing Federation of Canada, Canadian Labour Congress, Public Service Alliance of Canada, and others. The event was preceded by a community building hybrid event on gender equality which focused on IDEAS (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access Solutions). This was hosted by the Canadian Coalition to Empower Women, an initiative of BPW Canada. The convention concluded with an exchange of experiences and stories on the four pillars (Learn, Advocate, Lead and Collaborate). BPW Canada is one of the six founding Federations of BPW International. Executive Secretary Jenny Gulamani-Abdulla delivered greetings on behalf of the International President, Dr. Catherine Bosshart (COVID prevented her planned trip to Toronto), and the Regional Coordinator of North America and The Caribbean, Dawne Williams. The executive secretary also gave a presentation on membership growth and constitutional alignment. She then installed the incoming National Board into office for the biennium 2022 to 2024. We wish the new board much success with President Angela Godin at the helm and thank the outgoing Board for their service and commitment under President Karin Gorgerat. Other highlights included the recent government funding from the Department of Women and Gender Equality in Canada, a National Art Competition to celebrate young female identified artists across the country, an informal gathering in Toronto’s financial district, a formal gala event to showcase diverse women who have “stretched the possibilities” along with a silent auction in the luxurious Le Germain Hotel in the heart of the City’s Centre. The next BPW Canada National Convention will be held in Moncton, New Brunswick in August 2024. The Regional Congress for North America and The Caribbean will be held on January 9-15, 2023 in St. Kitts and Nevis. We invite members across the globe to plan and attend these events. Junto con la Vicepresidenta de Membresía, la Dra. Giuseppina Seidita, la IP Dra. Catherine Bosshart asistió al 30º Aniversario del Club Arad en Rumanía. Tras una interesante ceremonia en la universidad privada "Vasile Goldis" de Arad, tuvo lugar una cena de gala muy agradable con un encantador interludio musical y una ceremonia de encendido de velas pusieron fin a la exitosa jornada. Después de un recorrido por la universidad nos dirigimos a un castillo, propiedad de dicha universidad, en el campo cerca de Arad, donde pudimos visitar la impresionante colección de semillas de toda Rumanía. After an interesting ceremony in the private university “Vasile Goldis” of Arad, a very nice Gala Dinner with a lovely musical interlude and a Candle Lighting Ceremony closed the successful day. After a visit through the university we went to a castle in the possession of the same private university in the countryside of Arad where we could visit the impressive collection of seeds from all over Romania.
