Budweiser Clydesdales Tour of 2022
The majestic Budweiser Clydesdales will be in Washington, August 31 from 5 PM -7 PM. They can be seen at 8 locations in downtown Washington as they parade through the street.

Did you know....
The horses that get the honor of pulling the Budweiser wagon must meet a list of strict requirements. All horses that pull the wagon are male and at least 4 years old. Horses must stand at least 18 hands high (6 feet tall). The selected Clydesdales must weigh between 1,800 and 2,300 pounds. Also, the performance horses must have four white, tall socks on their legs, a bay coat, a white blaze, and black manes and tails. Clydesdale horseshoes measure more than 20 inches from end to end and weigh about five pounds – more than twice as long and five times as heavy as the shoe worn by a light horse.

When they leave their birth farm, the Clydesdales join the other mature horses at the companies farm in New Hampshire where they go through training. There are three teams and a total of 30 horses that tour the country each year.

Ten horses, the famous red, white, and gold beer wagon and other essential pieces of equipment are transported in three 50-foot tractor-trailers. Air cushioned suspension and thick rubber flooring in the trailers ease the rigors of travelling. And the team stops each night at local stables so the gentle giants can rest.

Each harness is handcrafted with solid brass, patent leather, and stitched with pure linen thread. The harness is made to fit any Clydesdale; however, collars come in various sizes and must be individually fitted to the Clydesdales like a finely tailored suit. Each harness and collar weigh approximately 130 pounds.

The Budweiser Clydesdales are so famous, they are synonymous with the brand. Each year, the Clydesdales make it to 200 events with a total of 900 appearances.

Christmas in Aurora Raffle

What a great time everyone had last year at the inaugural lighting of the town water tower that served as the frame for the community Christmas Tree! Our community came together to raise $6,000 for the Christmas landmark. We had a great turnout for the event. Luminaries lit the way to The Venue after the lighting of the tree ceremony. On the short walk to The Venue folks could take in the feeling of Christmas. Participants gazed upon Christmas lights, the Christmas murals painted by Snowden students on Aurora Fossil Museum windows and Miss Lib’s Christmas store front display.
S’mores were made by young and old alike outside The Venue. S’mores are always a big hit for all ages! Inside The Venue was decorated festively for the season.  Christmas music played while folks enjoyed hot chocolate and cookies. I believe Santa even made an appearance!
Once again, we are in the planning stages for a bigger and better event. This year the event will be held December   (date)    beginning at  (time)    o’clock. Last year we relied on the generosity of the community, and did our community ever come through! We are so appreciative of our thoughtful community!

Many thanks to Nancy Cameron Hubbard for her artistic talent and attention to detail. Our town sign, located on Highway 33 as you enter town, has been taken back to its original glory.
