Southside Partnership Women's Programme - Autumn Programme now Released

Always wanted to know how to sew or paint or bring your job-seeking skills up-to-date? 
Southside Partnership Women's Programme has an array of events lined up from now until November for beginner stitchers, artists at all levels and any woman looking to improve her job-hunting prospects. Upcoming events include:

Southside Partnership DLR Supports

FREE Wellness Workshop - SOS Suicide or Survive & DLR Social Prescribing Programme

To mark Mental Health Week 2022 SOS Suicide or Survive and the DLR Social Prescribing Programme for Health & Wellbeing are delighted to be bringing a FREE Wellness Workshop to the DLR Community which will take place on Oct 13th 2022 at the Sallynoggin Youth & Community Facility from 10am-4pm. Booking is essential. You can register for your place here

End of Summer Bazaar - Organised by the Southside Partnership Women's Programme and women4women Network

The Southside Partnership Women’s Programme and women4women Network are organising a bazaar. It’s an End of Summer Bazaar on Friday 23rd of September 2022 from 10am to 4pm.

We are collaborating with the Irish Islamic Association and Balally Family Resource Centre, its location (Wedgewood, Sandyford, Dublin 16 – D16 V0R1).

It will be a family day including crafts, art, traditional items, accessories and international food/drink from the multicultural and Irish communities in DLR and Dublin South. The aim is to support women with potential to progress into setting up their own small businesses in markets or online. It’s free to participate, so if anyone would like to enquire, contact rafika.kelly@sspship.ie.


FREE Growing Wellness Therapeutic Gardening Course – September 2022 - Last Minute Places Left

 

The Airfield Estate Growing Wellness programme uses Social Therapeutic Horticulture to promote community mental health.  During this programme which has started this week participants can experience improved physical and mental health, communication and thinking skills through a sense of purpose and achievement. They also experience an opportunity to connect with others – reducing feelings of isolation or exclusion. We have some last minute places available and interested participant can start next week from session 2. 
          

This is a partnership programme and is run at Aventine Gardens, Foxrock. Referrals are through the DLR Social Prescribing Programme for Health & Wellbeing at Southside Partnership DLR. It is funded by the Community Foundation Ireland.

Living Well with Dementia Sweet Memories Choir

The Living Well with Dementia Sweet Memories Choir is a weekly group that is facilitated by a trained Choral Director and is particularly welcoming to people with dementia, their families and carers. Multicultural Women’s Breakfast for the dlr Festival of Inclusion

women4women and dlr County Council invite you to the Festival of Inclusion at the County Council Hall on Thursday 6th October from 10am to 1pm. All women are welcome – see details in the flyer attached.

Hospice Coffee Morning at Ballybrack Project Centre - All Welcome

Our Ballybrack Project Centre, the I.C.A, Ladies Club, Young at Hearts and the SSP Craft group will be jointly hosting a fabulous coffee morning on Sept 21st 2022 from 10am-12 as part of dlr Festival of Inclusion. Autumn Beginners Sewing Course

You will learn beginners sewing skills and how to sew various items from start to finish
  • Taking correct body measurements for making your own block
  • Making a pattern, laying it out and cutting the fabric
  • Using a sewing machine and hand stitching
  • Sewing various items

Water Colour Painting Course

This course will run every Friday for 8 weeks. Join this very relaxed class learning different techniques of painting with professional artist Svetlana Starikova.
 
Other Courses & Supports in DLR
The dlr Community 5K is back and even bigger for 2022!
 
Want to take part in a fun active event for all the family and all abilities? If so register now for the dlr Community 5K, taking place at 2pm on Saturday 8th October 2022. This inclusive event returns for its 13th year in full force with over a thousand participants expected to be running, walking, jogging or rolling the 5km scenic route around Kilbogget Park.
 
Taking place during Dun Laoghaire Rathdowns ‘Festival of Inclusion’, this annual 5km event prides itself on being fully inclusive, suitable for all ages, abilities and fitness levels. With a DJ on hand to add to the joyful atmosphere, each participant will be chip-timed as well as receiving an event t-shirt and uniquely designed medal on crossing the finish line.
 
At just €5 for adults and free for children, this event will give everyone the opportunity to get out, have fun and be active in your local area.

India Fest 2022 - Kilbogget Park in DLR - Saturday 17th September 2022 - FREE Event

Another fantastic upcoming local event will be the India Fest 2022 which will be a fabulous FREE event for all the family and which will take place in our local Kilbogget Park on Saturday 17th 2022 from 12noon -7pm. You can find out more here and register. 

Women's Collective Ireland - DLR (formerly SWAN) - New Autumn Programme Out Now

The local Women's Collective Ireland - DLR (formerly SWAN) have just released their fantastic Autumn Programme and are holding a registration week next week. Please click here to access their full brochure or on the image above. 
Open Learning 2022-2023

Open Learning means you can fit college around your life. Open Learning fits around your schedule and gives you all the benefits of being a full-time student, without the full-time commitment.

Open Learning is now available in four institutions in Dublin. In this programme you can discover your part-time options in Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art Design + Technology, Marino Institute of Education, National College of Art and Design and University College Dublin.

University Access Courses for Mature Students 

You will be pleased to hear that UCD Access and Lifelong Learning (ALL) is a leader in the field of lifelong learning and in supporting mature students in their return to learning, and preparation for university.
The purpose of these courses is to pave the way for adult learners to progress in their educational journey into UCD. So, join our learning community in the great adventure that is the life of a mature student, we will be with you every step of the way!

  • UCD Think Again programme: The University College Dublin is launched a scholarship for women of a low income, aged 23+, who want to study part-time or full-time for a degree. It will provide funding for living costs, as well as a range of other vital supports, for 5 women starting university for the first time in September 2022. Click here for more details and  You can register your interest here and you will get an application pack, and support with completing the application form.
     
  • Open Learning: This programme gives you the benefits of a full-time student, without the full-time commitment. There are no formal entry requirements, the Open Learning modules are open to everyone with over 400 modules to choose from among 4 institutions. There’s a Fee Waiver aimed at students who wish to accumulate credits towards a recognised award, click here to see the brochure 2022/23 and apply now. Courses with the INOU

The Irish National Organisation of the Unemployed are running our year-long Local Training Initiatives (LTIs). Building Futures is our LTI leading to a major award in Community Development at QQI Level 5 and Shaping Futures is our LTI leading to a major award in Employment Skills at QQI Level 4. Both programmes will be delivered in our new Learning Hub at 88-90 Townsend Street, Dublin 2.

Both programmes have excellent outcomes for learners and provide a comprehensive range of supports. We believe that these programmes may provide very good progression routes for people using your services or that you may know.  A person can either be referred by you or apply by clicking on either of the referral links

Skills Connect

In 2019, UCC, in conjunction with Taste4Success Skillnet, recognised the value of encouraging professional women to return to their careers and developed a very successful, innovative, free programme called Rejuvenate to support them in their quest.


This award-winning programme has been specifically designed to help women from all sectors to build their confidence and to learn practical job-hunting skills and techniques to help in their job search and subsequent re-entry into the workforce.

Dublin Theatre Festival will run from 29 Sept – 16 Oct with 31 events across Dublin to suit all tastes. From classic drama by celebrated artists and companies, to large scale international productions, and work by exciting, emerging theatre-makers from home and abroad.

Our diverse programme provides outstanding theatrical experiences for every taste. In addition, Festival+ programme includes a range of free events, comprising interviews with artists and creatives, critical discourse, artist development opportunities and showcases of work in development.

Events for ADHD Awareness Month in October

Ahead of ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) Awareness Month in October, dlr Libraries are organising a series of talks, both online and in-person, on Tuesday evenings throughout September and October. 

The talks will cover a wide range of topics including, Neurodiversity and ADHD in the workplace, Executive Function,  and ADHD Women and Girls.
Talks are suitable for parents/guardians of children with ADHD or Adults with ADHD alike.

ARCHES Recovery College have an exciting mix of different courses on offer for the September-October period, including Boosting Resilience, Healthy Food Made Easy, and our creativity and mental health course Recovery in Colour (among many others). We provide Recovery Education programmes that are developed and delivered by service users, supporters/family members, and mental health professionals who work together.

AIB and TU Dublin Entrepreneurship for People with Disabilities Programme 


AIB and TU Dublin have launched a new course for people with disabilities who wish to start their own business.  The course is online, free, and open to anyone who self-identifies as having a disability and wishes to start their own business. It will begin on 21st September 2022 and will run on Wednesday mornings for twelve weeks. The programme was co-founded and is proudly supported by the Open Doors Initiative.

Suicide Prevention Skills Training on Behalf of Community Healthcare East for Dublin South East, Dublin South and Wicklow. Training is for those living or working in Community Healthcare East for Dublin South East, Dublin South and Wicklow. Event Guide for free Events in Greater Dublin


The "Dublin Event Guide (for Free Events)" is Dublin's most popular event magazine that focuses on the vast amount of cultural events for no admission charges.

For more than 11 years it was a weekly e-mail magazine that listed, described and recommended 170-200 free cultural events in Dublin City and in the Greater Dublin area. Gigs, Festivals, Talks, Lectures, Exhibitions and much more for all age groups were included.

Instead of a weekly e-mail, there is now an e-mail only when significant events happen and you can subscribe for free here.
