August 2022 was filled with sunshine, joy, and community. We celebrated the Wheaton Franciscan presence at our Year of Jubilee mass, received a short and sweet visit from General Directress Sr. Magdalena, and the Sisters and OLA associates enjoyed summer food and fun together!

September 2022 Mass Calendar

From S Bea (JPIC):

The September/October 2022 issue of the Sojourners Magazine includes a wonderful article about the interfaith leaders’ trip to Ukraine. As you know, our Sister Sheila Kinsey was a member of this delegation. The purpose of their trip was to stand in solidarity with the people of Ukraine and to pray publicly for peace. Discover the very moving stories of their experiences in "Why Our Faith Delegation Went to Ukraine." Most of all, continue to pray and act for peace in Ukraine and in our world.

Ask Your Senators to Sign On in Support of the Greenhouse Gas Emissions Rule Now!

From S Bea (JPIC):

Please take a moment to sign and send a message to your senators asking them to sign on to Senate Environment and Public Works Committee Chairman Tom Carper’s letter of support for the Department of Transportation’s new greenhouse gas emissions rule to measure, report, and reduce pollution on our nation’s highways now.

This is a critical step towards slowing down climate change which has caused ever worsening drought and fires, as well as devastating floods across the country and elsewhere around the world.  You do not need to make a donation to sign onto the letter.

Learn How You Can Help

Nuclear-risk reduction / no-first-use are hot topics from the NPT Review Conference

From S Bea (JPIC):

Although the date of this meeting is already past, I share this with you just to let you know that advocacy efforts can make a difference.  Past advocacy work is what made this meeting possible.  As the meeting at the UN of the States Parties to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty winds down its meeting, some significant progress is being made toward moving all states that presently possess nuclear weapons to agree to sign on to a “no first use” policy.
