Parks Forum Meeting Sat 2nd July

The minutes from our meeting last month are now on our website - www.bristolparksforum.org.uk/meetings/

                   ----------------------------

Future of the Parks Forum

This from the last section of the minutes:

“Mark and Rob both wish to reduce their involvement with BPF. Mark has been Chair for years and has a very demanding job.  Rob has also been involved for many years, in particular with the requirements for maintaining the website and being the voice of the BPF on emails. He also feels that there could be conflicts between his roles in the BPF and Your Park Bristol and Bath.

So, in short, before the AGM in October, new voices are urgently needed on the BPF Committee!!

So please get in touch if you would like to get more involved.

                   ----------------------------

Your Park Survey

Your Park are running a short survey to get the views of people on the Charity and their use of parks in Bristol & Bath

Please take a few minutes to complete the survey

                   ----------------------------

The National Lottery Heritage Fund - Have your say

Another survey!

The National Lottery Heritage Fund has just launched a “Have your say” opportunity to collect views on how the Lottery might invest - and in what - for the future.  This is a great opportunity for all interested in improving public green spaces to tell them how we would like to see the Heritage Fund investing in future.

This is an opportunity to get parks, community green spaces and urban nature moved up the funding agenda!

The Heritage Lottery Fund has been very important over the years in funding improvements to parks, both in Bristol and nationally. So please respond and tell them how important parks are – we need to show that parks or worthy of investment despite all the other heritage projects competing for funds

Here is the link to the survey:  https://www.heritagefund.org.uk/have-your-say
As a volunteer it is best to fill in the longer survey for people working with heritage, if you have the time.

                   ----------------------------

Deep cuts by local authorities leaving green spaces in decline

Two articles in the Guardian today highlighting the pressures on funding for parks and the importance of volunteers

Funding for England’s parks down £330m a year in real terms since 2010

Parks at risk: ‘If it was not for the volunteers, we would struggle’

While Bristol is not mentioned; the Council is under the same pressures as other parts of the country and there is no doubt that BCC budget pressures caused by fuel and other cost increases is going to add to the pressures on the Parks Service this winter.

                   ----------------------------

Community Boost Grants

The Community Boost Grants programme is a one-off funding opportunity being administered by Age UK Bristol on behalf of Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire Integrated Care System. The money for this funding has come from the NHS Inequalities Improvement Programme.

The grants are intended to allow local communities to set up their own activities or projects that will benefit people experiencing or at risk of poor health – whether that is due to long-term health conditions, significant life events, marginalisation or discrimination, stress, lack of financial security, or being unable to access opportunities for exercise or healthy meals.

Application deadline: Friday 16th September 2022 (midday)
