"When you keep searching for ways to change your situation for the better, you stand a chance of finding them. When you stop searching, assuming they can't be found, you guarantee they won't." Angela Duckworth (Wikipedia bio.)

Today is the last day of the Apple Festival!

If you haven't stopped by our booth yet, we're in front of First Citizens Bank between 5th & 6th Avenues until 5:30 today.

Join Mountain True at the County Commission Meeting
Tuesday, September 6th 5:30 pm

The Henderson County Commission's recent conversations around relaxing land use ordinances is the opposite of what our county needs. MountainTrue and LWVHC are encouraging supporters to attend the September 6th County Commission meeting to voice opposition to weakening land use regulations and save the Henderson County Comprehensive plan.

Check out the following link for more information, or email Nancy Díaz (nancy@mountaintrue.org) for more ways to get involved: https://mountaintrue.org/oppose-the-weakening-of-land-use-regulations-and-save-the-henderson-county-comprehensive-plan/

Henderson County Board of Elections (BOE) presents:
INFORMATION OR MISINFORMATION
How do you know the difference?

 Monday September 19, 2022
5:30 pm
Henderson County Public Library, Kaplan Auditorium

Election misinformation occurs when there is a demand for accurate information without an adequate source of trustworthy information. The goal of the Program is to reassure voters that their vote counts by providing transparent policies and procedures. The Program and the work of the BOE is designed to answer any questions or concerns about the election process.

Please join us as we work to prevent the spread of misinformation concerning elections.

In-person questions will not be taken that night.  Please submit any questions you have in advance.

More opportunities to Learn and Engage

Braver Angels: Too often, we stereotype, dismiss, or ridicule our fellow citizens who support the other political party, its leaders, and its policies -- and never more so than when we're talking with like-minded people. But you know that's not helpful, and you know you want to do something about it. So  Saturday September 10 at 2 pm ET, come join our free online workshop to become more aware of your "inner polarizer" and learn methods for disagreeing without contempt and ridicule. Register here.

September 20, 6:30 pm: The NC Trusted Elections Tour (https://www.nctrustedelections.com) is a joint effort of the Carter Center, League of Women Voters, and other groups to set the record straight about the security of elections in states and the entire country. There will be multiple town hall meetings held across North Carolina from the end of August through early October. In Asheville it will be at the Feguson Auditorium at AB Tech Community College  (340 Victoria Road).  A virtual version is scheduled for September 19 also at 6:30 pm.
