Pro Abortion Groups in Panic Over Personhood Laws
Violence against prolife centers growing in scope and intensity
Buffalo, New York – When the Supreme Court returned regulation of abortion to the states in June, violence erupted against pregnancy centers nationwide. Protests turned nasty as threats were made, pregnancy centers firebombed, windows broken, and graffiti sprayed. The rift between those who see abortion as mere “health care” and those who believe a child in the womb has a right to life, is becoming more heated.

Rev. Jim Harden is CEO of CompassCare crisis care pregnancy center which was firebombed. He believes the fetal personhood laws now being passed in some states will only ramp up the fear from the left. But he says, “When has anything that’s living and growing been considered ‘not alive?’” The left’s fearmongering serves only one interest; those who want to end the life of their unborn child.

Harden cites that one half of the states are passing some ban or limit on abortion. While nearly all Democratic lawmakers support a woman’s right to terminate her pregnancy, no where have they supported any rights of the child in the womb. Now, that’s changing. Arizona, Indiana, Georgia, Kansas, and Missouri passed fetal personhood laws.

Meanwhile, Planned Parenthood has received $1.6 billion in taxpayer money to promote its agenda. “To use one cent of tax dollars to push their agenda is appalling,” says Harden. He expects to see more heated hyperbole, threats, fearmongering, and lawsuits by the left in an attempt to stall legislation in pro-life states. The Georgia law declares the unborn are entitled to 14th Amendment protection.  State Rep. Ed Setzler, the bill’s sponsor, calls critics “bomb throwers” a sentiment that Harden knows all-too-well since his clinic was firebombed in June. It all sounds draconian until you are on the other end of the firebomb.

While the November midterm elections won’t heal the division between those who want abortion and those who follow the science of conception, the sweeping reforms have stirred up a hornet’s nest of violent opposition. In the end, says Harden, we represent God and His love for mankind. To do anything less is to elevate our will above His.
