Nature's Patterns & Flow

Ayurveda recognizes that there are underlying patterns and rhythms in nature and in us. Something as seemingly simple as noticing and aligning our daily routine with the patterns and changes of light from the sun, can have a significant impact on health.

Just as attuning to the spiral pattern of the sunflower above can open your heart to beauty and connection, learning to attune to nature's rhythms and navigating the sometimes resistant terrain of being human can reestablish flow, empower deeper understanding of yourself, and open pathways to wise choices about your own well-being.

'Attune to Nature's Rhythms ~ Nourish Your Well-Being' is the theme for the January, 20 - 22, 2023 Ayurveda lifestyle immersion retreat on Whidbey Island. Read More

An Ayurveda Lifestyle Immersion Retreat

Whidbey Island

Friday, 2pm - Sunday, 2pm Pacific Time

January 20 - 22, 2023

Join me in-person at the New Year, New Moon time, for an experiential, playful, and transformative retreat! We will explore how nature's rhythms affect us and play a significant role in limiting or facilitating our capacity for clarity, contentment, and personal well-being.

Daily lifestyle makes a difference! When you awaken, sleep, eat, and choose food according to digestion rather than 'likes', it can have a profound impact on heath. We will follow an Ayurveda daily flow that will support clarity, contentment, and well-being.

The slow, soft qualities of winter season, the lunar rhythm of the New Moon, and the presence of the elder trees will hold our sacred circle, open access to our interconnectedness, and empower your compassionate inquiry, personal discovery, and inner resourcing

We will integrate meditation, yoga asana, and pranayama to develop your capacity to notice nature's changing rhythms and qualities (gunas) within yourself and the outer environment. The weekend immersion will empower you through your own experience to apply practices at home.

"The rhythmic lifestyle of Ayurveda follows Nature, and if you decide to live according to this lifestyle, you too will begin to feel supported by Nature---from within yourself. You can discover the deep nurturance that is always available in Nature and gradually become one with the great natural rhythm. Be assured that Ayurvedic principles are Nature's own principles."

Walking Around, Open-Eyed Compassion Meditation

Walking around or open-eyed meditation can be done anywhere/anytime. It is a simple and playful way to return to your moment to moment experience.

Compassion Practices from Sally Kempton:

  • "Whenever you think of it, make a point of breathing in compassion and breathing compassion out into the environment. Notice the energy that is generated when you do this. Recognize that compassion is a natural energy in the universe. You don't have to create or invent it."
  • "When you feel stressed, anxious, worried, angry, or annoyed, or when you notice that you're not at your best, ask yourself 'What would compassion do at this moment?' How does your behavior change?"
