2022 Tubman Day at Button Farm!

Join us to remember the remarkable life of Harriet Tubman, who fled from the Eastern Shore of Maryland on September 17, 1849. 

Tubman not only escaped to freedom on the Underground Railroad, she risked that freedom repeatedly by returning to Maryland to lead others out of bondage.
 
First founded at Button Farm in 2017, Tubman Day reveals the life of Harriet through hands-on activities for visitors of all ages.
 

SURPRISE ANNOUNCEMENT:  The afternoon’s program includes a special announcement of an upcoming program ahead of our 2023 season, so come out with your family and friends and join us for the big “reveal!”

"Veranda" is back!
This event is for adults 21 and over only

Toast the close of summer at our third annual Drinks on the Veranda event.

Come savor our 19th & 20th century Southern libations and culinary delights.

Relax on the veranda, stroll the garden grounds, and mix and mingle with food and history lovers.

Our menu will be paired with history, music and merriment.
 
Tickets are $50 (historical cocktails and food included) and $35 (mocktails and food).

2022 Emancipation Day Celebration

 

Date/Time: Saturday, October 29, 2022; Noon – 3:00 PM
Location: 16820 Black Rock Road, Germantown, MD 20874
 
Celebrate the day in 1864 when Maryland changed its constitution to abolish slavery six months before the end of the Civil War.
 
This outdoor, open-air, event includes an emancipation-themed self-guided tour of the farm and Slave Cemetery accessible by your phone through our QR portal.
 
Scavenger hunts, presentations, farm animals, and hands-on history will help to round out the day.
 
This is our final Open House weekend for the season at Button Farm. Come and enjoy the fresh air.
