It has been a busy few months for our team in both hemispheres! Here's the latest.

Here at Deckhand Logbook, we don't just care about fishermen - we are fishermen!

In June and July, our very own US manager Lange Solberg spent time running his fishing boat Iceberg Point in Bristol Bay, Alaska, harvesting wild sockeye and participating in the fishery's record-setting season. Lange used Deckhand Pro as his personal logbook on board to keep track of running catch tallies, tender deliveries, and fish hold refrigeration data.

Our COO Doug Adamson spent well over a month in New England this summer connecting with fishermen, associations, distributors, and other stakeholders, and of course, attending lobster boat races. Doug's primary objective, as he put over 3,000 miles on his rental car, was to understand how Deckhand Pro can benefit commercial fishermen's businesses even more.
(Spoiler: we've learned a lot and encourage you to stay tuned for exciting product announcements in the near future!)

South Australian Rock Lobster harvesters are just getting underway with their season, running a freshly-updated version of Deckhand Pro. Simon and Ashleigh of our AU team recently finished a road trip to the major ports to meet with fishermen, collect feedback, and answer questions. Best of luck to all - wishing you a safe and prosperous haul!

NEW HIRES
In the past few months our team has expanded on both coasts of the US.

We're pleased to introduce Julia Logan, our marketing coordinator who joined the team back in July. Julia lives in the small beach town of Marshfield Massachusetts, where she spends her free time on the beach in the summer and painting and drawing in the winter. Her background is in digital marketing, event coordinating, and social media; and she also has deep family ties to the commercial fishing industry. Currently Julia is in graduate school obtaining her MBA with a marketing concentration.

Back on the west coast, Winston Richardson has joined the Deckhand team as a sales consultant. Winston hails from San Diego where he lives with his wife and two kids. Free time for him consists of coaching and shuttling his kids to football, baseball, basketball, swim, and lacrosse. He began his career in the US Navy Submarine Force and has 20 years' experience in sales and tech support in the maritime industry, specializing in commercial fishing (VMS products), recreational boating (GPS solutions), and oil and gas.

Welcome, Julia and Winston! We're glad you're on board!
