Our Partnership with Diverse & Resilient

Our relationship with Diverse and Resilient is one that was very grassroots and happened very naturally. While advocating for a survivor who is part of the LGBTQ+ community, one of our advocates felt their survivor needed additional support and reached out to Diverse and Resilient. What started as an initial call for co-advocacy support for a survivor turned into a blossoming relationship between teams of advocates fueled by the acknowledgment that this intersection of race and sexuality/ gender identity deserves not only to be validated but fully supported, embraced, and celebrated. Our staff continues to embrace co-advocacy for survivors who share this intersection. When we make a co-advocacy client connection with D&R, Nick is typically on the ground in our offices, which our clients have identified as a safe space for them within 24 hours. Regarding collaboration, we feel as if D&R staff are almost an extension of ours now.

On an organizational level, we have started strategic planning for developing and incorporating training built by the experts, Diverse and Resilient, for our entire staff. In addition, our leadership is prioritizing both commits for onboarding training and continental education for staff provided by the D&R team to be developed and built into our regular training in our agency.

“At Diverse & Resilient, we see a future in which lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer people in Wisconsin thrive, living healthy, satisfying lives in safe, supportive communities. Our mission is to achieve health equity and improve the safety and well-being of LGBTQ people and communities in Wisconsin.
