Bonjour!

Hello!
Change is in the air at the farm and I am feeling sentimental. Two of my summer employees had their last day of work last Friday and by the end of this week my third summer employee will leave to go back to school. I lucked-out again this year with a fantastic team of enthusiastic, hard-working, fun-loving and bright group of employees. I get quite attached to my employees and it is always sad to see them go. I know that they will go on to do great things and they will forever leave their mark on the farm and on me.
Our work is now really focused on harvesting all the produced we worked on throughout the spring and summer and to prepare the greenhouses for the fall crops.

Last week we transplanted the seedlings that will become the leafy greens we will harvest through November and December. In the image above you can see the baby swiss chard getting acquainted with their new home.

Another greenhouse now hosts what will become our last succession crop of string beans, English cucumbers, napa cabbage and daikon radish.

I've been preparing next year's fields for a few weeks now by tilling the soil to get rid of quackgrass and other tough weeds. Week after week I have seen the neighbouring wheat fields go from green to beautiful gold. Last Sunday when I went out to till again, I was greeted by huge round straw bales which made for an interesting and amusing sight.
