Consecrate to Jesus
How do we help others to grow more with Jesus? It would be easy to have the quick recipe with tips to help people make changes in their life. Not to mention, those that we parent or disciple.
God gives us an amazing promise to “train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it” (Prov 22:6). So our role in the great call of nurturing others is to train them. But what does it really mean? The Hebrew word for “train" sheds a richer understanding to what we would usually relate to education or discipline. The original translation for “train” is “consecrate.”
So the key to building others is for God to do it! And our responsibility, is to simply consecrate them to Him. Again, and again, and again. Take time this week to recommit those in your sphere of influence back to the hands of Jesus. They are safest there and will be in the best position for God to grow and send them.

Prayer Focus – Eyes to see
The scripture song goes ‘Open our eyes Lord, we want to see Jesus’. We have sung it and we meant it, yet I wonder if at times we are only comfortable seeing certain parts of Jesus? Are we keen on Jesus heart of compassion for the rejected in society? Are we keen on Jesus penchant for standing up to false teaching and attitudes? Are we happy with the simplicity of His caring and sharing, or are we happiest when the Biblical discussion is ‘deepest and longest’?
“Father, help us to really want to see you. Let us feel what you felt, go where you went and in doing so, see others through your eyes.”

Hannah was born and raised in Melbourne Australia in a cross-cultural household, her late father was from Germany and her mother from the Philippines. In her early twenties, Hannah desired to know God more. It was during a mission trip to Papua New Guinea that Jesus restored her life to be whole in Him. She has also served as a missionary in South Korea, a Bible worker in Melbourne and a Chaplain and Associate pastor at the Gilson College and Community church in the Victorian Conference, Australia. And while serving as a Volunteer Missionary at the Cuisle Centre of Influence in Dublin, Hannah received the call to return to pastoral ministry in the North New Zealand Conference.
We acknowledge the further call to Ministry through the Commissioning of Hannah Andrykanus on Sabbath the 27th of August at the Tauranga Seventh-day Adventist Church where she currently serves as Assistant Minister. It was a beautiful Commissioning based on John 15:5, and surrounded by friends and family, and her church family as they affirmed God’s call over her life.

ADSAFE - New video to raise awareness about abuse
Adsafe in collaboration with Adventist Media have created a video to increase awareness about abuse and its impact within the Seventh-day Adventist Church’s organisational context.
The video will be circulated to all churches and schools in Australia and New Zealand in readiness for enditnow, a global Adventist Church initiative to raise awareness and advocate for the end of violence around the world. This year’s focus is on “abuse of power”, with an emphasis day scheduled for this Sabbath (August 27).
“The statistics in Australia alone on domestic violence and child abuse demonstrate how big the problem is—statistics that are based on reported cases of physical and sexual abuse only often don’t consider emotional abuse or the fact that many survivors suffer in silence,” said Adsafe general manager Ann Beaumont.
“In a 2016 report published by the Australian Bureau of Statistics, it was highlighted that 1 in 6 women and 1 in 16 men had experienced physical or sexual abuse perpetrated by their partner. One in 4 girls and 1 in 8 or 9 boys in Australia will experience child abuse before the age of 15. These figures provide a small glimpse of the magnitude of the issue of abuse. However, the statistics don’t show the emotional/psychological toll of abuse on the survivor, their family or the community.
“Protecting children and the vulnerable is a shared responsibility that is close to God’s heart,” Ms Beaumont added.
“We can choose to make a difference for the one hurt and vulnerable person we meet. How we individually support, comfort, accept and believe those who are hurting can help a survivor on their healing journey. Choose to make a difference for someone today.”
In 2016, the Seventh-day Adventist Church–South Pacific Division established Adsafe, a company that provides protective services for children and vulnerable adults through supporting survivors, risk management and safeguarding/educational services.

Ellen White and Contemporary Adventism
6 November | ONLINE
Seventh-day Adventists have a rich heritage of visionary pioneering people. Ellen White, one of the Church's founders, had a spiritual gift—being a special messenger for God. She wrote many books, letters and spiritual reflections that have been preserved for our benefit today. How do we make the best use of these writings now? The international and scholarly speakers at this symposium will answer this question from many angles that will enrich our understanding and application. The Incredible Journey presents:
Mr Eternity – Arthur Stace
Arthur Stace is one of the legends of Sydney, and the most powerful preacher the city has ever known. Yet, his sermons were only one word long: the word “Eternity” written half a million times on the sidewalks of the city. This is the story of how eternity found him and elevated him above a life of rejection, alcoholism, and crime. Stace’s life was dramatically transformed by the message of eternity, and he spent the rest of his life sharing it with others. This program invites us to reflect on the reality and meaning of eternity, and how we too can find eternal hope in God.
