MTBO Series #3: West Stromlo, 3 September

Due to issues with obtaining site access permissions for the MTBO event originally planned for Sunday 4th September, OACT has decided that rather than cancelling the MTBO or Saturday Metro event, a better approach would be to schedule both events on Saturday 3rd September.
The MTBO start window has been extended to enable participants to attend both events, starts will be from 9:00am to 10:30am, with course closure at 1:00pm. Participants wanting to take part in both events are urged to pre-enter to save time at registration, and to start at the beginning of the MTBO event at 9am.
All the details are in the event program. Enter by 2 September through Eventor.

Australian Championships Final Entry Reminder and Frequently Asked Questions

When do entries close?
31 August – this Wednesday!!

Are there late entries?
No – we are not accepting any entries after 31 August.  Starting 1 September, the team behind the scenes will be swinging into action to make sure that start lists are published, maps and bibs are printed, and all other tasks large and small, are completed for the 12 separate events that make up AOC2022.

Can I change my entry?
Before 31 August, you can change your entry yourself, in Eventor.  You can change classes and/or SI stick numbers.  After 31 August, the only changes accepted will be for SI stick number updates.  These must be emailed to entriesaoc@vicorienteering.asn.au.  You cannot change classes after entries close.

Can I cancel my entry?
Yes – but not in Eventor.  To cancel, please email entriesaoc@vicorienteering.asn.au, with details.  If you are eligible for a refund, that will be processed first, then we will cancel the Eventor entry for you.

What if I miss the entry deadline?
We are offering limited Enter on the Day options at most events, on one Hard, one Moderate, and one Easy course.  Entry and payment at Registration.  Details will be published on Eventor and the AOC2022 website, prior to the Carnival.

What about special requests and add-ons?
You can ask for parental splits, hire an SI stick, order a T-shirt, come along to the Mapping Workshop and Carnival Dinner, and enter the Melbourne City Race Weekend!  Click here for more information.

How can I get help with my entries?
There is a lot of information on Eventor, including entry instructions and approximate course lengths.  You can also email entriesaoc@vicorienteering.asn.au, with any queries.

SC-ORE Spring Entries Open

Entries are now open for SC-ORE Spring 2022.

SC-ORE is a participation-focused, team-based activity, with some competitive energy. Gather your friends, go online and register now, to make up a fabulous SC-ORE team. Students from all Primary Schools and home-schooled students are welcome.

Teams consist of four students (two girls and two boys) in Years 3 to Years 6 (preferably from the same school). Students in classes below Year 3 may enter if they are regular orienteers.

SC-ORE is held before school on Thursdays in Term 4. The Spring 2022 Series starts on 20 October and continues for four weeks:

  • 20 October: St Monica's Primary School
  • 27 October: Maribyrnong Primary School
  • 3 November: Macquarie Primary School
  • 10 November: Majura Primary School

Students will need to be on-site by 7:45 am for an 8.00 am start each week. Events finish in time for students to get to school.

Visit the SC-ORE page for more information or go straight here to enter.
Entries close 14 October.

Computer Operator Sought

Expressions of interest are sought for the position of computer operator for our regular community orienteering events starting with the Runners Shop Twilight Series from October 2022.

This is a paid position and would suit a friendly outgoing person who can attend all of the Wednesday Runners Shop Twilight Series events. You will have the opportunity to take part in all the events if you wish.

Time required is approximately 3 hours per week, with the expectation that the person can arrive at the event and have the computer set up at least 15 minutes before the first start and able to be transport a small amount of equipment to and from the event

Please contact Phil Walker (jillphil1@bigpond.com) for details. After several seasons looking after our events computer, Cameron Nulty will not be seeking an extension of his contract past the end of the current metro season. Many thanks to Cameron for putting up with us all week after week!

Development Officer Appointment

OACT is pleased to announce that Toni Brown will take on the role of Development Officer for the association with effect from 1 September 2022. Former DO and current OACT President Susanne Harrysson will continue as SC-ORE co-ordinator.

Executive Officer Appointment

OACT is pleased to announce that Phil Walker will take on the role of Executive Officer for the association with effect from 1 September 2022. Phil brings a wealth of experience to the role, most recently following his three-year term as OACT President. The Board would like to take this opportunity to thank outgoing EO, Geoff Wood, for his years of tireless service in the role.
