HEALTH WORKFORCE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
Simon Windsor

A Physiotherapist providing services on Kangaroo Island, Simon Windsor received a grant through the Health Workforce Scholarship Program to support him to complete the online Gerontology Physiotherapy Level 1 course. This course has enabled Simon to increase his skills providing gerontology physiotherapy to the island community.

“Kangaroo Island is home to an increasingly aging population. Accordingly, working with older people is an important and growing part of my work in our private clinic, but also in the acute hospital setting, community based healthcare and of course residential aged care. Working as a rural generalist physiotherapist, it is difficult to keep up with professional development encompassing all fields of my work. With grant assistance from the Health Workforce Scholarship Program I was able to complete the level 1 Gerontology course. This course has improved my knowledge and understanding of common gerontological conditions, and given me new methods of assessment, management and improved ability to critically review my effectiveness working with this population. I intend to continue improving my knowledge and capacity to provide high quality physiotherapy interventions in the gerontological field for Kangaroo Island residents into the future.”
