THE MIDTOWN CONNECTION
June 12, 2021

Welcome to the Midtown Community Church newsletter! Here you will find information to connect with the people and ministries at Midtown as we seek to be renewed by Jesus Christ for the purpose of drawing people into community, growing as an authentic worshipping community, and sending them out to renew and create communities locally and globally.

NEW SERMON SERIES!

10:30AM

2011 Ridge Road Lawn

Join us for OUTDOOR worship in person or via livestream available on our YouTube Channel. Please make sure you bring your own chair or blanket to sit on - and a fan! Masks are optional and not required for outdoor worship. Children's Ministry is open for 1, 2 and 3-yr-olds. Children's bags and resources will continue to be available. The Fellowship Building will be open for restroom use.
Summer Worship Time Change!
Time: 10:30AM
When: June 6th - September 5th

Throughout the summer, our worship service will start at 10:30am on the church front lawn. Ridge Road Baptist Church has returned to in-person worship and we believe that giving them the earlier 9:00am meeting time will benefit them from a hygienic standpoint. Plus, we can sleep in a little later on Sundays for the summer!

Welcome Sarah Breazeale!!
NEW Director of Children's Ministry
We are pleased to announce the hiring of Sarah Breazeale as our new director of children's ministry.  Sarah brings a wealth of experience from her work in Christian school, the public school system, homeschooling her three boys (their youngest is now in college) and serving in a variety of volunteer capacities in various churches and local ministries.  Sarah and her husband, Dan, began attending Midtown Church over the pandemic, so you may have already met her.  We think Sarah will be a great asset to the spiritual and numerical growth of our Sprouts ministry.  Charity Cleary will remain on staff as an Assistant Director, so we feel very confident that our children will be in great hands under their collective leadership.  Be on the lookout for opportunities to meet Sarah over the Summer.  You can now reach her at sarah@midtown-church.org.
Thank You Charity!!
As we welcome a new Director of Children's Ministry, we want to give thanks to God for how He has used Charity Cleary over the past 2½ years in this position.  Charity has been a faithful presence in this role, and she has nurtured the souls of our kids with a deep care for their spiritual development.  While she will continue to serve in an assistant director capacity, we want her to know how much we appreciate her faithfulness to this job.  Thank you Charity!

Charity can still be reached at charity@midtown-church.org.
Children's Ministry Is Back!
We are excited to have our Children's Ministry back!  We currently offer one class for our wiggliest bunch: 1 through 3-year-olds.  You no longer need to register your child on Sign Up Genius.  We look forward to seeing your little ones!

Volunteers for July
Thank you to the volunteers who have served so lovingly and faithfully since Sprouts has reopened.  Sprouts can't exist with you!  We are in need of volunteers to serve in July.  To volunteer in July, please contact Sarah Breazeale at sarah@midtown-church.org.

New Building & New Director!
A Note From Sarah
Hi Midtown!  My name is Sarah Breazeale and I am the new Director of Children's Ministry at Midtown.  I am excited to meet all of you, give you a tour of the new Children's Ministry Building, and work on a little project together.  Some Midtown children have already seen our new space and they love it, but for many it is brand new.  This is an invitation for your family: parent and child/children.  Please sign up at Midtown Children's Ministry Visit.  Each slot will last approximately 45 minutes and is limited to three families at a time.

Summer Book Club
When: Wednesdays at 7:30pm
Start Date: June 16th
Location: Pastor Lindsey's Backyard

Midtown has decided to consolidate to just one book club that will meet in Pastor Lindsey's backyard (2417 Basil Drive).  We are really excited about discussing Enduring Community by Brian Habig.  This book is designed to foster discussion about what the Bible says and ultimately what Jesus wants His church to look like here on earth.  Whether you have been at Midtown for weeks or years, feeling hopeful or disillusioned, connected or isolated, this will be a relevant discussion for everyone.  Pastors Lindsey and Duane encourage everyone to prayerfully consider this if you want to engage in meaningful conversation and connect with community.
  • To participate in this book club, please RSVP to Pastor Duane at duane@midtown-church.org.
  • To reserve a book (we have free copies for everyone), contact Erin Wright at erin@midtown-church.org and pick it up from church this coming Sunday or whenever is convenient.
For more details and to see the reading schedule, check out the Summer Book Club Overview.
