XI Domingo do Tempo Comum - ANO B, 13 DE Junho de 2021

LEITURA I Ez 17, 22-24

Palavra do Senhor.

EVANGELHO Mc 4, 26-34

A VOZ DO PASTOR

1. O número de pessoas permitido agora (1/3 da capacidade) é de 110 pessoas por Missa;

2. O distanciamento social e a obrigatoriedade do uso da Máscara continuam em vigor;

3. Celebrações de Batismo, matrimônio e funerais até 20 pessoas;

4. Festas no salão paroquial ainda não são permitidos neste estágio;

As pessoas que desejarem fazer parte da Comissão dos 50 anos da nossa Igreja, por favor, procurar o Helder Afonso, coordenador do Conselho financeiro ou deixar o seu nome e telefone no ofício da Paróquia. Em setembro, iniciamos o ano jubilar, cuja festa será celebrada no ano que vem;

PASTOR’S VOICE

Today we have in our bank account the amount of $78, 239.57.

Brothers and sisters, this Sunday Jesus offers us two images of great spiritual intensity: the parable of the growth of the seed and the parable of the mustard seed. They are images of ordinary life that were familiar to the men and women who listened to him, accustomed as they were to sowing, watering and harvesting. Jesus uses something that was known to them—agriculture—to illustrate something that was not known to them: The Kingdom of God.

Effectively, the Lord reveals something of his spiritual realm. In the first parable he told them: “The Kingdom of God is like when someone sows seed on the earth” and introduces the second saying: “With what can we still compare the Kingdom of God (…)? It's like a mustard seed».

Most of us already have little in common with the men and women of Jesus' time, yet these parables continue to resonate in our modern minds, because behind the sowing, watering and harvesting, we sense what Jesus is telling us : God has grafted something divine into our human hearts.

What is the Kingdom of God? "It's Jesus himself," Benedict XVI reminds us. And our soul "is the essential place where the Kingdom of God is found" - God wants to live and grow within us! Let us seek God's wisdom and obey his inward insinuations; if we do, then our life will take on a strength and intensity hard to imagine.

If we patiently respond to his grace, his divine life will grow in our soul as the seed grows in the field, as the medieval mystic Master Eckhart beautifully expressed: "The seed of God is in us." If the farmer is intelligent and hardworking, he will grow up to be God, whose seed is, his fruits will be of the nature of God. «The pear seed turns into the pear tree; the seed of the walnut; in a walnut tree, the seed of God, becomes God».

A blessed week for you!

FIRST READING I Ezekiel 17.22-24

Thus says the Lord God:

“I myself will take a sprig from the lofty top of a cedar; I will set it out. I will break off a tender one from the topmost of its young twigs; I myself will plant it on a high and lofty mountain.

“On the mountain height of Israel I will plant it, in order that it may produce boughs and bear fruit, and become a noble cedar. Under it every kind of bird will live; in the shade of its branches will nest winged creatures of every kind.

“All the trees of the field shall know that I am the Lord. I bring low the high tree, I make high the low tree; I dry up the green tree and make the dry tree flourish. I the Lord have spoken; I will accomplish it.”

HOLY GOSPEL I Mark 4.26-34

Such a large crowd gathered around Jesus that he got into a boat and began to teach them using many parables.

Jesus said: “The kingdom of God is as if a man would scatter seed on the ground, and would sleep and rise night and day, and the seed would sprout and grow, without his knowing how. The earth produces of itself, first the stalk, then the head, then the full grain in the head. But when the grain is ripe, at once he goes in with the sickle, because the harvest has come.”

Jesus also said, “With what can we compare the kingdom of God, or what parable will we use for it? It is like a mustard seed, which, when sown upon the ground, is the smallest of all the seeds on earth; yet when it is sown it grows up and becomes the greatest of all shrubs, and puts forth large branches, so that the birds of the air can make nests in its shade.”

With many such parables Jesus spoke the word to them, as they were able to hear it; he did not speak to them except in parables, but he explained everything in private to his disciples.
