B) AS WE EMERGE FROM LOCKDOWN – STRONGER TOGETHER SESSIONS

Everyone in the local community is invited to a series of community orientated conversations called “Stronger Together” which will be hosted in the local church building.

They are designed to offer a safe space for everyone to listen and share experiences and wisdom gained during the last year in the hope we can heal and grow stronger as a community.

The sessions will provide an opportunity to talk to other people face to face, provide encouragement to reengage with a large crowd in a safe space and to process some of the issues that have arisen for us during the last year.

The first session “Talking about loss of all kinds” is on 5th July 2021 at 8pm in the Church of the Good Shepherd, Coldharbour Road, Pyrford.

This is designed to be about loss of all kinds, not just bereavement but might include loss of job, loss of celebrations, liberty, spontaneity etc. Come and hear Counsellor Steve Wright give a brief talk about processing loss: - issues involved, possible emotional reactions and where you might find help. This will be followed by round table discussions to understand our individual and community losses and begin to assess any community needs for the future.

Tea and coffee will be served.
Any covid guidelines will be observed.

Let’s rebuild stronger together.

The subsequent sessions are scheduled for:-

12th July – embracing change and finding hope – change management consultant Myra Clarke
6th Sept – anxiety and depression – psychologist Dr Eleanor Clark
27th Sept – talking about addiction – tbc

E) WEST BYFLEET LIBRARY UPDATE

There has been a recent update by Surrey County Council (SCC) on West Byfleet Library.

SCC say they are “close to securing a temporary site for the duration of the redevelopment of the current library site. Firmer timescales will be published over the coming weeks, but SCC anticipate the move will take place towards the end of the summer”.

The temporary site “is only a short distance from the current site” and will “offer all the current library services, as well as some parking for library users”.

The current library will remain open for click and collect throughout the majority of the summer.

Conversations around the final position of a new library within the development are ongoing, but SCC are confident the library will be a core part of the final development.

F) SHEER HOUSE UPDATE

Demolition continues with a key piece of equipment – a high reach muncher to enable demolition of the main Sheer House tower - being delivered late evening (c 23:00) on 15th June meaning demolition of the tower should commence on 21st June.

RVG have announced that the Sheer House Car Park around the Library will close from 1st September 2021.  RVG have been in discussions with South Western Railway to provide 67 parking spaces, Ringo will match public parking tariff & are flexible in where people can park. Public parking tariff will start at 9am.

Take care & stay safe.
