WINE TASTING JULY 24
Our upcoming fundraiser will be a wine tasting on Saturday July 24th. For vaccinated people only it will be at a private home in Ocean View. The presenter, Paul Cudone is both a friend of RD38, and a semi-retired wine consultant with over 40 years of experience in the industry.
This tasting will explore today’s most prominent grape varieties - Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Sauvignon Blanc, and Chardonnay. Paul will cover how to evaluate a wine for its overall quality through taste and smell. He’ll also cover how to appropriately use terms to describe wines, such as floral, fruity, full-bodied, medium-bodied, elegance, finesse, nutty, and bold.
A total of 10 tickets will be sold, each at $50. They must be purchased through Eventbrite at this link: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/157781176747. Expect this to be both a fun and informative event. There will be snacks and dessert, and a door prize (a Bottle of Felsina 2007 Vin Santo Del Chianti Classico -a 94+ points wine with an estimated Retail Value $45- $50).

JAMBOREE COMMITTEE SEEKING VOLUNTEERS
The Sussex Jamboree, is an annual evert to raise funds for the Sussex County Party. This year it is slated to be held on Sunday September 12th at Cape Henlopen State Park. If you are interested in being on the Organizing Committee or at learning more you can attend the initial meeting, on Zoom, on June 21st at 6:00. If you are willing to help on the Jamboree effort, but don’t want to be on the Committee, there will be solicitation for further volunteers. STATE PARTY CONVENTION – OUTCOMES
The State Party Convention was held, on Zoom, on Saturday June 12th. RD38’s 11 elected delegates all attended.
Outcomes:
There were no credential challenges, so all Delegates present were accepted by the Convention
The proposed revision to the State Party Rules were approved by vote well above the required three-fourths.
The incumbent Chair, Betsy Maron, faced no opponents and was elected by acclamation.
There were two male candidates for one of the Vice Chair positions – Coby Owens won over Martin Willis.
There was one female candidate for the other Vice-Chair – Debbie Harrington, and she won by acclamation.
The incumbent Secretary – Linda Cavanaugh, and the incumbent Treasurer – Helene Keeley, faced no opponents and were elected by acclamation.
The reports of the resolutions and platform committees were accepted by acclamation.
