This Friday June 18th, join a conversation with Dax Ovid and Mallory Rice about "Using Instructor Talk to Promote a Positive Learning Environment." How do students remember and perceive instructor language? Instructor Talk is the non-content language used by instructors in classrooms, and it is present in every life science course analyzed to date. Through a combination of activities, we will review examples of Instructor Talk that students remembered and reflect on how we might use non-content language to foster positive and inclusive learning environments.
Sit down with other engaged colleagues on Zoom. Based on research by the Summer Institutes, supports are three times more important than barriers in implementing Scientific Teaching in classrooms. Join us for support with the National Institute on Scientific Teaching, formerly the Summer Institutes (Bathgate et al., 2019a, 2019b).
