 PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
“The first step towards getting somewhere is to decide you’re not going to stay where you are.” – John Pierpont Morgan

Greetings Laurel Hall Families:

As, yesterday marked the last day for students, today is the last workday for teachers, officially ending the 2020-2021 school year.
Thank you to everyone for a very successful year. We wish everyone a safe, restful, and brilliant summer. Though we will put the weekly Buzz, and the weekly message on hold until August, there will be important information coming your way about the 2021-2022 school year during the summer.

Positive change is on the horizon. However, I must begin on a bittersweet note. After a spectacular career in music education that spanned three decades, Mrs. Bonnie Koch has officially retired. We plan on dedicating the fall Homecoming to Mrs. Koch, where we will celebrate her dedication to our students and the incredible impact Bonnie has made on our school community.  THANK YOU, BONNIE!

A few of the exciting programs coming to LHS for the 2021-2022 school year are:
  • Elementary - Art in Action
  • Middle School - Debate Team, Facing History and Ourselves, Graphics Arts, Honors Math
  • All School - Math Enrichment, Math Remediation

It is also my pleasure to announce the appointment of the 2021-2022 Parent Teacher Organization Executive Board:

Lynn Dee Bollesen – President
Jenna LaFontaine – Vice President
Tara Miller – Secretary
Leslie Crosby - Treasurer

I want to give thanks for the tireless work of the outgoing co-presidents – Jenny Oldroyd and Jennifer Becker. Their contributions to the school and to the organization have been invaluable.

Please make note of the following important dates:

  • Monday, June 21st - Summer camp begins.
  • Friday, July 30th - Summer camp ends.
  • Monday, August 23rd - Teachers return.
  • Wednesday, September 1st - LHS Welcome Back.
  • Thursday, September 2nd - First day of school for the 2021-2022 school year.

It is time to relax, recharge, reflect and give ourselves much-deserved credit. We have proven, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that we are resilient, we are community, and we are quite simply a great school!
Best,
Jay

Goodbye PlusPortals

Hello Blackbaud!

Over the past year, we have been working to phase out the PlusPortals system in favor of a new Student Information System and Learning Management System that will address some of the struggles that have been communicated to us by parents, students, and faculty. We are very excited to announce that Laurel Hall School has adopted Blackbaud as our new system beginning July 1st 2021.

Blackbaud is a powerful but user-friendly platform trusted by thousands of schools and non-profit organizations around the world. Our new Blackbaud portal features a mobile-friendly environment with all of the information you need to access as a parent. From new student applications, submission of forms and documents, managing health and immunization info, and the ability to view and pay tuition invoices. The end result is an all-in-one solution where you get what you need quickly and easily.

We will be rolling out our new platform over the summer and will be in touch with more information before the start of school.

2021/2022 SCHOOL UNIFORMS
Navy blue and khakis pants/ shorts/skorts will still be available as part of the school uniform guidelines.
Students will only be able to wear the “new” logo, with the laurel leaves, cross and dove in a circle, pictured above.

LAUREL HALL ONGOING FUNDRAISERS

Three ways that you can support Laurel Hall during the school year, are by (1) linking your Ralph's card to Laurel Hall, (2) designating our school as your charity on Goodsearch, and (3) scanning your grocery receipts with the Box Tops app.

To benefit Laurel Hall, shoppers need a digital account that can be linked to the Ralph's Community Contribution program. Go here to set up your digital account. If you already have an online account with Ralph's, you can log in and then choose Laurel Hall as your designated Community Contribution school.

Our school receives funds for every search made through the site, so why not use it as your search engine? You can sign up for Goodsearch here. Be sure to designate Laurel Hall School as your charity.

MONTHLY SCRIPTURE

JUNE SCRIPTURE

“Finally, beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. Keep on doing the things that you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you.”
