North Weald Bassett Parish Council chairman councillor Alan Buckley with one of the new benches
MEDIA RELEASE
Issued: June 7, 2021

Blue benches installed in Parish

Two blue benches have been installed by North Weald Bassett Parish Council which has completed its COVID-19 Reflection Bench Project.

The benches are made from recycled materials and have been installed within the Parish after the parish council received £500 grant funding from the Essex Association of Local Councils towards this project.

One bench has been installed in North Weald Village near the village flagpole on the corner of Wheelers Farm Gardens.

The other is near the play area at Thornwood Common.

Rainbow stones have been placed around the North Weald bench.

Both benches feature a brass plaque which reads:

NORTH WEALD BASSETT PARISH COUNCIL
REFLECTION BENCH 2020
WHY NOT SIT HERE
REST A WHILE AND CONTEMPLATE
“TOMORROW WILL BE A GOOD DAY”
Words spoken by: Captain Sir Tom Moore

The project was initially put forward by parish councillor Andy Tyler who felt the project would be a good memorial for the year 2020.
