Friday nights have traditionally been a place for everyone to start the weekend with organised training for 9s-13s, as well as The amazing All-Stars and Dynamos for the younger ones.
With the added bonus of the bar being open, you can be assured of a great welcome for everyone. Socially distanced, of course!

Weather

Unfortunately, it has been known to rain occasionally on training nights and match days.
Coaches, managers and umpires will always try to make sure training and matches go ahead, but it has to be safe to do so. If an event has to be called off, notifications will be made on squad WhatsApp groups, as well as social media channels.
Please keep an eye out closer to start times.
Please also remember, that once restrictions are lifted, on training nights even in poor weather, the bar in the Clubhouse will be open, so don't cancel your plans completely, a warm welcome is waiting for you!

Junior Cricket

Junior Cricket - A mixed month

It has been a mixed month both results-wise and getting a game on because of the weather and the increased Covid risk in the area, but where we have seen play, we have been rewarded by some fine performances from our players with both bat and ball, and excellent attitude towards their game.

Egerton Cricket Club is a fully inclusive cricket club, and we welcome children and young people of all backgrounds to the Club.
Don't forget to tell your friends and bring them down to the Club to join in on training nights!

Walmsley Primary School welcomed Mark from Lancashire Cricket Club back into the school this month, to help show these young people what a fantastic game cricket is. They Loved it!

Half Term Junior Cricket Camp

During May Half Term, the Club ran a Junior Cricket Camp over three days.

Amal, our Junior Head Coach, supported by our Senior Pro, Janith and our overseas player Deon, laid on intensive skills and training sessions for some of our young players in preparation for an extended Camp in the Summer Holidays, which will be open to young players from outside of the Club.
Feedback from both coaches and players has been really positive, and I think you can see that the smiles on these young people say it all!

Club Opening Hours - June 2021

After the success of last year's use of the 'Round' App, we will be continuing to take orders for drinks and snacks using this really smart App. The feedback from you all last year was really positive - so much easier not having to miss a ball of play and have your drinks brought to the table or collect from the outside collection point!

BBQ - If there is a BBQ in progress, all food orders are to be made via the Round App.

Club Community Events

Egerton Cricket Club prides itself as being at the ‘heart of the community’, and the Clubhouse hosts many regular events and meetings unrelated to cricket. Here are just a few of the different groups meeting at the Club.

  • Strikerz FC HQ
  • Over 60’s Club
  • Pink Ladies Rounders team
  • Children’s music group
  • Parent & Toddlers

If you would like to find out more about the Club to see if it would be suitable for your group, then please get in touch at howzat@egertoncc.co.uk

Get Involved

So much goes on in the background to make Egerton Cricket Club run as smoothly as it does.
When you turn up at the Club to watch a match, the wicket has been prepared, the outfield has had a final cut, the bar is open, the Clubhouse is clean and well presented, the ouside areas have had the bins emptied and a freshcoat of paint has been applied to those areas that need it. There are a core of dedicated people working to keep our Club facilities in great condition, but they can’t do it all on their own!

You don’t need a skill or a talent to help out, just a few hours a week, or even from time to time would make a massive difference to those volunteers already giving up a bit of their time; if you think you would like to get involved, please let us know by sending an email howzat@ergertoncc.co.uk and we will forward on your details to the Grounds Team. Or just turn up on the off chance someone is on the Ground and go and introduce yourself - you will be made more than welcome, and you will be put to good use!

Scorers required

The Club has to provide a scorer at each of our games, and we are on the lookout for anyone who would like to help out.

Scoring isn't the dark art it used to be, with different coloured pens, and to the uninitiated, a new language of dots, lines and other symbols to learn.

Everything is conveniently worked out for you on an app called CriqHQ and with a little tuition, it is easy keep track of the game! There is even a small payment for most matches.

If you think this would be something you would like to be involved with please email howzat@ergertoncc.co.uk and we will pass your details on.
