News from The Lakes
Last Saturday saw 10 Moravians running in the British Middle Distance Championships and 9 of them also ran in the Northern Championships the following day in the lakes. It was a bright, warm, sunny weekend and a compact technical area (Summer House Knoll) by Newby Bridge for the middle distance. Some great top 10 finishes included: Eddie (2nd M65), Finlay (4th M14), Faith (6th W16), Kate (8th W14) and Morag (8th W45). Well done to all those who took part.

At the Northern Championships we also had some great performances; In the W14A class Kate was 3rd and Sophie 6th. Then in the W16A class Isobel was the champion!

Upcoming Events
This Saturday is our next Mountain Bike Sprint event at Delnies Wood, Nairn. The details are here.

Please note that there is no planned parking available at Delnies Wood and participants will be required to park in the various Nairn town centre car parks and cycle to the event.  This is 2km to the start and less than a 10 minute bike ride.
Entries are still open on SI entries.  There will be no entry on the day.

Entries will close on Thursday evening and there can be no late entry.

Our next event takes us to the delights of Culbin East and takes everyone to areas which are normally only visited by the longer courses or those more adventurous MAD courses. Entries are open on SI Entries and close at midnight Tuesday 15th June.

This is a bring your bike event because the start is approx 2km from the Wellhill Car Park and we have been asked by Forestry and Land Scotland not to use the Wellhill Car Park. The increased number of visitors to Culbin mean that there has been high demand for parking at Wellhill and has caused problems for adjacent landowners. So we have arranged parking at Craigfield Farm, Kintessack approximately 2km from Wellhill Car Park. Parking will be signed and details can be found on the website. We are aware that some people do not own bikes or have small children for whom this is too long and for those people please contact the organiser to discuss parking. As we rely on the good will of Forestry and Land Scotland to hold many of our events please comply with their request to park at Craigfield Farm.

Steve Smirthwaite has also offered to take a spare bike or two for anyone who cannot get their bike there. He can bring an extra few bikes (covid sanitised) if anyone would like to use them. Please let Steve know. stevesmirthwaite (at) gmail.com

Ken Anderson has planned three courses for our delight
Green (TD5) 4.5km
Lt Green (TD4) 3.5km
Yellow (TD2) 2km

Everyone should register and collect maps at registration/ download in Wellhill Car Park before proceeding to the start which is approximately 2km east into the forest. There is plenty of room to leave your bikes and the start is adjacent to the finish. We hope you will treat the day as an adventure and there is the potential to cycle further into the forest with plenty of beautiful picnic spots at Buckie Loch or overlooking the Findhorn Bay.

We are currently looking for several people to collect controls after the Culbin event.
If you are available please contact Ian Addis at addisian (at) sky.com. Many thanks.

Look out for our news signs at Delnies Wood and in Culbin Forest.
