HUD announced the award of 70,000 Emergency Housing Vouchers (EHVs) to approximately 700 Public Housing Authorities (PHAs) across the country in May 2021. A list of PHAs invited to administer these vouchers is available on the Emergency Housing Vouchers page on HUD.gov. These vouchers are a strategic investment of $5 billion funded as part of the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 and are dedicated to individuals and families who are:
- Homeless
- At-risk of homelessness
- Fleeing, or attempting to flee, domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, stalking, or human trafficking
- Recently homeless and for whom providing rental assistance will prevent the family’s homelessness or having high risk of housing instability, including clients in rapid rehousing and permanent supportive housing programs
HUD's Office of Public and Indian Housing (PIH) is hosting weekly Office Hours to support the implementation of the EHV program. These Office Hours will be held on Tuesdays from 3:00 – 4:00 PM EDT.
The next EHV Office Hours will be today, Tuesday, June 8, 2021, and will highlight partnerships between PHAs, Domestic Violence and Anti-Trafficking Victim Service Providers (VSPs), and Continuums of Care (CoCs).
