There was a Mario sighting this weekend, but it wasn’t on Rainbow Road. Neighbors spotted a real-life Mario racing down McCommas on a go-kart. His travel companion was not Princess Peach or Luigi but a white cockatoo. Cyclists, walkers and joggers are often spotted around East Dallas, especially on sunny days like we had this weekend, breaking up periods of constant rain. HARD NEWS ICYMI: A 28-year-old Julio Guerrero was booked into the Dallas County jail on charges of murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon last Wednesday after a nine-hour standoff at a home in Oak Cliff. Guerrero was wanted in connection with the May 2 murder of 35-year-old Francisco Villanueva Rodriguez at the Tiger Cabaret in East Dallas. He was also wanted in connection with the shooting of a 3-year-old a week later. (Oak Cliff Advocate)
