A return to normal
After a long and often challenging year, a light appeared at the end of the Covid tunnel last month when the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention updated their guidance for fully vaccinated individuals. On May 13, the CDC announced that those who have received the coronavirus vaccine no longer need to wear facemasks or social distance. The following day, the University of Georgia released a letter outlining guidelines for a return to campus based on the CDC's change in guidance.
"We are excited to envision the vibrancy of campus life as we resume traditional student activities and interaction in classrooms, labs, concert halls and athletic venus," the letter reads.
Over Summer 2021, UGA will begin a transition period of ending pandemic-related arrangements such as teleworking and will resume pre-pandemic operations by Fall Semester 2021.

Where Are They Now: Megan Davis
 In 2003, Megan Davis graduated from the University of Georgia Center for Food Safety (CFS) with her master’s degree in food science and technology. Since that time, she has become involved in public health and played an important role in South Carolina’s efforts to slow the coronavirus pandemic.

CFS student presents at 3-A SSI Virtual Education Program
 Lordwige Atis, a graduate research assistant at the University of Georgia’s Center for Food Safety (CFS) has been selected as a Student Participation Award winner for 3-A Sanitary Standards Inc. (3-A SSI) Virtual Education Program 2021. In a pre-recorded video, Atis presented her dissertation research on the emerging parasite Cyclospora cayetanensis.
