Blessings for Graduates: On June 12^th and 13^th, we will offer a blessing for our high school and college graduates at all of our weekend Masses. Congratulations to all of our parish graduates!

Mission Coop Speaker: On June 12^th and 13^th, we welcome Fr. Denny Joseph from the Mission Society of the Rogationist Fathers to share a bit about their ministry and mission during Mass and make an appeal for support of their work. Please prayerfully consider how you might best contribute to their efforts.

We're Hiring!

Holy Spirit Parish is seeking a full-time skilled Maintenance Person responsible for the maintenance, cleanliness, and repair of our parish facilities. This position provides routine maintenance for three parish campuses including semi-skilled carpentry, plumbing, electrical and other minor repair work.

High school diploma or GED equivalent, plus two to three years work experience in a maintenance environment required.

Must have the ability to lift, carry, pull, and push items up to 50 pounds in weight and be able to tolerate extended periods of standing, walking, and noise. Qualified candidates must be able to work well independently and with others while following written and oral instructions. Interested individuals should send a resume to dbq059@dbqarch.org.

Religious Education & Sacramental Prep Updates

Religious Education Summer Program -- LAST CALL!

The Summer Religious Education program, Encountering Christ Through the Corporal Works of Mercy, is being offered for grades 1 - 8 June 14-25 at the Cathedral. It is scheduled M-F from 9am-noon.

Participating in the summer program and a monthly meeting Sept through May will meet your child's requirements for Religious Education next year. Traditional Wednesday night class at Holy Ghost will also be offered.

Summer registration should be completed using the Holy Spirit Faith Formation Registration Website:

Scholarships will be available based on need.

NEW!! SUMMER CLOTHING DRIVE

The Faith Formation Summer Program is collecting the following children’s Clothe the naked 2019 – Sarah Fuller Art

clothing for Saint John’s Open Closet:

unopened/new packages of children's’ underwear
jeans
t-shirts
sweat pants (any size-child or adult)

Items do not have to be new (with the exception of underwear) but must be clean and in good condition.

Clothes may be dropped off in the collection boxes at Church or cash donations may be put in an envelope marked Clothe the Naked and placed in the collection box/basket at each parish site.

Deadline for contributing is June 20.

Dear All,

I hope you and your families continue to be in good health! What a blessing to be able to come together to celebrate Mass for the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, Corpus Christi! Benediction and Adoration was truly beautiful, thank you! Happy June and summer! Since many ministers stay home for various legitimate health and safety reasons this means many of you are serving each week to help; please know how grateful I am for all of you who are serving every week! Thank you all for your continued service!

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion:
Thank you to all who attended the meeting this past week, June 3^rd, at Sacred Heart! To those unable to attend I will be sending you the notes and recording of the meeting. Exciting to see so many ministers re-commissioned; to those who have not yet received your commissioning certificate, I will be mailing out copies. Please contact the office or me if you are not already on the list but are interested in becoming an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion on the weekends!

I have posted the June-August Schedule last week; moving through the summer, Ordinary Time, there will be an ongoing number of changes to the ministries and the Mass as a whole; we will always let you know if/when we make any updates. As you have seen, we have started lifting some of the mask mandates; please see other parish blasts for more updates on modified guidelines.

Copies of the schedule may be found in the church sacristies, and the parish website under the Ministry-MSP-Schedules. To those without access to the internet I will be mailing out hard copies; everyone, please let me know if you ever want a hard copy and I will send them to you. Sunday Reflection from Father Steve Garner

Reflection | Eleventh Week in Ordinary Time | June 13, 2021

"It is as if a man were to scatter seed on the land and would sleep and rise night and day and through it all the seed would sprout and grow, he knows not how (Mk 4:26-27).”

In this weekend’s Gospel parable about the Kingdom of God, Jesus gives us the impression of something that grows “of its own accord.” Yes, the man does the initial planting of the seed, but the real miracle of the seed turning into a full grown plant happens without the intervention of the farmer. God makes that happen.

So too with the Kingdom of God. We are called to participate to a certain extent, but also to allow God to work. We first do our part when we “scatter seed” of faith by living out the baptism that made us children of this glorious kingdom. But even as we make our daily choices to follow Christ and live as his children—with all the actions, decisions, and commitments that entails—we still get to enjoy the miracle of sitting back and watching God’s providence in action.

Just think of the beauty of creation and the seasons. Think about the gift of a newborn baby in the arms of its parents. Think about the surprising situations that resolved themselves in our relationships, jobs, and families. Think of the encouraging stories of forgiveness, reconciliation, and conversion that we have heard or experienced firsthand. Think of the blessings that have somehow come out of the trials and tribulations of our lives. Think of all the sick, poor, and lonely who have been comforted by believers. Think of the moments of peace and insight that we have received in prayer. So it is that God makes our seeds “sprout and grow” when we sincerely take that first step of faith to enter His Kingdom.

Prayer for the week

Let us pray with intention this week for our priests, both newly ordained and presently serving.

The World Day of Prayer for the Sanctification of Priests takes place every year on the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. This year the Solemnity is on Friday, June 11, 2021.

Prayer for Priests
O Jesus, eternal High Priest, who, in an incomparable love for men,
allowed Catholic priesthood to issue from Thy Sacred Heart,
deign to continue to pour out on Thy priests the life-giving streams of Infinite Love.
Live in them, transform them into Thyself;
Render them by Thy grace instruments of Thy Mercy;
Act in them and through them and grant that they may perform in Thy Name
and by the strength of Thy Spirit, the works which Thou Thyself
has accomplished for the salvation of this world.
Divine Redeemer of souls,
see how great is the multitude of those who still sleep in the darkness of error;
count the number of those unfaithful sheep who are walking on the edge of an abyss;
consider the crowds of the poor, the hungry, the ignorant and the weak,
who are groaning in their state of abandonment.
Return to us again, dear Sacred Heart of Jesus,
live again in very truth in them;
act through them and pass again through this world
teaching, pardoning, consoling, offering sacrifice, renewing the Bonds of Love
between the Heart of God and the hearts of men.
We pray through the intercession of Mary, Mother of all hearts.
Amen.

UPDATED PARISH GUIDELINES
5/22/2021

With the revised CDC recommendations presented on May 13th, the reporting of over 50% of adults having been vaccinated, and the lifting of mask mandates by the city and county, we are given some very encouraging signs that the worse of this COVID crud is behind us.

With the lifting of the dispensation to attend Mass on June 5, 2021 by Archbishop Jackels, we will likewise adjust some of our COVID protocols at Mass and other liturgies.

Facemasks are no longer required to be worn at liturgies by those who have been fully vaccinated. Those who have been fully vaccinated and wish to continue to wear facemask as a precaution may continue to do so.

Those who have not been fully vaccinated (age 2 and above) are strongly encouraged to continue wearing a facemask at Mass and other liturgies.

At this time, the current seating pattern will continue with every other pew closed with seating so all feel comfortable attending Mass (although we may choose to adjust this protocol if attendance warrants it).

We will begin singing all of the Mass parts and songs but ask that singing be done minimally—meaning singing a bit more softly as opposed to loudly.

We will not have missals available in the pews at this time.

We will have bulletins available for pick up at the church entrances after Mass (weekend of June 5-6), but no other media materials or pamphlets will be available at this time.

Holy water and baptismal fonts will remain empty (if you would like to have some holy water for home use, please bring a bottle and ask Father to bless).

There will be no offertory procession with the presentation of the gifts and no collection (collection boxes will still be located at the entrances of the church for contributions).

Holy Communion will continue to be distributed only under the species of bread with ministers continuing to come to you in the pews. Receiving Communion in the hand will continue to be the norm for the safety of all. Ministers will be masked while distributing, sanitizing before and after communion.

Live-streaming will continue for the 4:00 pm Sacred Heart Saturday Mass.

Sanitizing the church following Mass will continue (A big thanks to all who have assisted over the last year in sanitizing our pews after Mass).

As conditions hopefully continue to improve, we will evaluate, and modify accordingly with charity and safety in mind. Our goal always has been and will continue to be a welcoming faith-filled community--while protecting the safety and well-being of all.
