The Max Block Food Pantry Match Challenge continues through July 31!

1 in 5 Children in Duval County Receive Their Only Meal While in School

The Max Block Food Pantry at JFCS continues to meet the needs of many families that struggle throughout the summer months – closing the food gap that is created by school being out.

In 2020 alone, the Max Block Food Pantry served more than 62,200 meals to a record number of families and individuals. In order to meet the high demand, we expanded our reach by partnering with Inspire to Rise, located on Jacksonville’s Westside, George Washington Carver Elementary School on the Northside and added mobile deliveries through Door Dash for families, seniors and Holocaust survivors facing hunger.

As we continue to combat food insecurity, we invite you to support the Max Block Food Pantry.

From now until July 31st, the Block Family Foundation will generously match any contribution made to the Max Block Food Pantry.

No one should ever have to go hungry in our community. Together, we can fight hunger.

Please give now and make a difference in the lives of the many that come to JFCS for assistance.

Meet one of our clients, 14-year-old Michael Graybill

"Some say it’s a weakness to show emotion and open up to a person for help. I used to believe that, and I was depressed because of it. The truth is, identifying with our emotions makes us stronger. Talking about your feelings relieves the pressure you put on yourself. "

JFCS Board Focus: Chase Zimmerman

Chase Zimmerman was born and raised in a small town in Mississippi. After graduating from the University of Mississippi, Chase moved to Colorado, where she worked for two years before moving across the United States to Atlanta, where she met her husband, Morrie.
Chase has been active with many local not-for-profits in the Jacksonville community, including the Jewish Community Alliance, the Jacksonville Museum of Contemporary Art, where she serves on the Board of Directors, Wolfson Children’s Hospital, the American Cancer Society and Pace Center for Girls, among many others.

Of everything Chase has accomplished in her life, the most meaningful for her is being a mother. “I feel that every child should be cared for and loved. It is my hope to make a difference in the lives of those who have not had that opportunity. That is one of the reasons I joined the Jewish Family & Community Services Board of Directors,” Chase explained.

I am so honored to be considered a part of this organization. Together with my family, we can continue to support the First Coast community and help those who cannot help themselves.

When Chase is not working, she and her husband travel and she stays busy. Morrie and Chase have two children, Bennett and Wendell, both in college.

JFCS is so thankful to have Chase on our Board!
