Govanstowne Farmers Market
Wednesdays // 5104 York Road // 3-6pm
Thanks to all those who made our 10th opening day so special!  Check out our highlights reel for a glimpse at our first market day of the season.   A reminder that market takes place rain or shine.  Check out any Wednesday Weather updates at our Facebook page.

Summer goes quickly, don't miss the chance to soak up some mid-week relaxation at Market!

In community,
Marie, GFM Market Manager
Eggs for Sale @ Market
You asked, we answered!  A limited number of dozens of farm fresh eggs from The Family Farm will now be available for pre-sale on Market Days at the pre-sale area.  It really doesn't get better than eggs straight from the farm, fed nutrient rich diets, these eggs are better than any grocery store brand.  And, they're only $4 a dozen, which is less than the cage free, organic eggs sold at the grocery store.

The Family Farm sells produce, eggs, and (soon) meat via the Govans Market pre-order system weekly.  The pre-order system opens on Friday at noon and closes on Mondays at noon at www.govansmarket.org.
A Place to Call their Own:
Govans Market's Kids Zone
We're proud that our market is a safe space for all members of our community to come together.  A central part of our community are our youth.  Each summer, we welcome youth to our market as a safe space to play, learn, and grow.  Here are some of the things happening this summer for youth at market:
Free Books, Toys & Crafts
Our neighbors are always generous with their time and  resources.  Here are some of our partners for this summer and their offerings:
  • Govans Branch of the Enoch Pratt Library will have craft kits available for pick up at market in the Kids Zone
  • Neighbor and former educator Ms. Kim will be sharing free toys and books
  • Loyola's York Road Initiative will be providing children's books and Bmore Birds coloring books throughout the season.  Donations of gently used books are always welcome!
Free Summer Meals
Free meals are available for all youth ages 18 and below for pick up at the Govans Market.

All meals are prepared fresh and provided by St. Vincent de Paul's Good Harvest program.

We are proud to partner with Good Harvest, because of their mission to provide job training and a commitment to utilizing fresh, whole ingredients as much as possible.

Find all of these resources in the Kids Zone -- a newly improved area safe from car traffic and with adult supervision in the southwest corner of the market lot.  Look for the Front Porch Church tent!

Information & Resources
This week at market, we'll have two youth-focused resources sharing information at market:

Govans Elementary School:  A local community public charter, Govans will be re-opening in their new school building at 5801 York Road this fall.  Learn more about what supports are available to students at this school and how to engage as a parent or volunteer.

Thread: A multi-faceted mentoring program, Thread seeks to build connections across community.  Learn more about how to enroll in services or sign up as a volunteer.

Both organizations will be back throughout the summer to share information and resources!
