Happy Anniversary to US!
The Westlawn Inn opened its doors July 2004 -
and so now: Celebrating 17 years!
We always wax nostalgic about this time of year...Milestones include being named the Best New Restaurant in Maryland in 2005 (and several other smaller awards throughout the years), Surviving the Great Recession, Becoming a Music Venue, Opening the Guest Quarters, and Surviving the Pandemic. Also our events: Costume and Theme Nights, Wine Dinners, Italian Delights Prix Fixe, NYE "Civilized Celebrations," Book Exchanges, Art Shows. And there are many more memories of good friends who have come and gone and new friends made.
Chefs Kozick, O'Neill, Higgs (twice!), Lucas, and Fletcher have stewarded us through the adjustments we've had to make. We're proud that we've been able to keep staff: Chef Fletcher has been with us 10 years, Server Michelle for 17 years, Server Anna for 9 years, Server Kate for 8 years, and of course, Will for 15 years. Former Chef Higgs and former sous chef Sampson still fill in for us from time to time, thankfully. And some of YOU, our most loyal patrons, have been with us the entire time, and others for more than a decade!
How did we do it - through tough times in one of the toughest industries around? By KEEPING OUR BALANCE! We are balancing our menu with fine-dining entrees (both seafood and meats) with bar bites and sandwiches, our martinis with beer, our tables early and late and inside and out, our employees scheduling needs with our restaurant hours, our music nights and quiet nights. It takes a bit of choreography, but we're dancing as best as we can!
Part of that balance is our decision to reward our dedicated employees with a holiday, and we will be CLOSED on Sunday July 4th. We regret any inconvenience.
You may have noticed that it's been a while since we sent a newsletter. We have been dealing with supply and staffing challenges, and were actually hesitant to advertise if there was a chance we couldn't "deliver." Those challenges continue, but we have made progress on the staffing issues, and you can count on Chef Fletcher to "deliver" the best we can as far as cuisine.

(QUIET NIGHTS: 7/3, 7/31)
We will be utilizing both dining rooms, as well as our veranda, when the weather is good. Upstairs and outside diners will be able to hear but not see the music, of course, but perhaps that is a good choice for you. As you know, we never charge a cover, but we do encourage you to consider leaving a cash tip for the musicians.
RESERVATIONS are a really big help to us on ANY night. To make a reservation, please call 410-257-0001 or email thewestlawninn@yahoo.com. If you leave a message, we will get back to you as soon as we arrive, so don't be concerned if you don't hear from us prior to that. We check our email all day but after 3:30, please call.
