Regional Highlight:

In April 2021, six GLOBE Trainers (Jennifer Bourgeault, Jodi Haney, Lynne Hehr, Sherry Herron, Tracy Ostrom, and Haley Wicklein) offered a virtual 2-day training for 100+ K-12 Specialists from the AMSTI Partnership, Alabama, USA. Centered around “Earth as a System,” trainers co-crafted an agenda with GLOBE Partnership leadership responsive to state educational standards. While a virtual event at this scale had many challenges, the trainers were able to take advantage of online tools (e.g., Jamboard, Padlet, Flippity) to create an interactive learning experience.

To learn more about the training and how these tools were used, please view the report-out recording from the GLOBE Annual Meeting Community Session on Wednesday, July 14 at 5:30p MDT.

GLOBE Partners Elevate Citizen Science at CitSciVirtual and NASA CitSciCon

The GLOBE Program was launched on Earth Day, 1994 providing “students and the public worldwide with the opportunity to meaningfully contribute to our understanding of the Earth system and global environment” (GLOBE, n.d.). As such, GLOBE is one of the first citizen science programs in the country. GLOBE Partners and community members continue to elevate this work every day. In the spring of 2021, 13 presentations were given by GLOBE Partners at the CitSciVirtual conference and the NASA CitSciConBRAVO contributors!
