Regional Highlights: Opportunity to Connect with NASA Air Quality Mission in Houston

Banner image includes annual average TROPOMI Tropospheric NO2 columns over the Houston region NASA will be conducting an airborne research campaign and performing enhanced observations at select sites throughout the Houston, TX region in September 2021. Scientists and engineers involved in the campaign are interested in reaching out to local K-12 schools to share the excitement of their mission with students and teachers. Possible NASA/school interactions could include in-person presentations by NASA personnel and/or possible tours of the aircraft and ground sites. NASA also has the capability for schools to connect virtually to track the aircraft, mobile labs, and chat live with scientists online.

GLOBE Partners Elevate Citizen Science at CitSciVirtual and NASA CitSciCon

The GLOBE Program was launched on Earth Day, 1994 providing “students and the public worldwide with the opportunity to meaningfully contribute to our understanding of the Earth system and global environment” (GLOBE, n.d.). As such, GLOBE is one of the first citizen science programs in the country. GLOBE Partners and community members continue to elevate this work every day. In the spring of 2021, 13 presentations were given by GLOBE Partners at the CitSciVirtual conference and the NASA CitSciConBRAVO contributors!
