Dear Reader,
I hope you are keeping cool this summer! I know after a long winter that I am REVELING in this glorious sunshine! With all of this heat though, I got inspired to share a drink recipe from the world of Detective Docherty!
Since it's June, my mind is all about strawberries right now.
Strawberries are native to North America and were grown and eaten by First Nations people before they were traded and imported to Europe. In fact, the Strawberry moon begins on June 24th this year ^_^
In celebration of the Strawberry Moon, I'd like to share a refreshing strawberry drink ^_^ I chose the name Sabawaelnu Strawberry Cool after Ila, from Docherty.
Ila is a Sabawaelnu. Sabawaelnu, or halfway/half-people, are merrow native to North America. They are said to have power over storms (similar to Selkie and Mermaid stories) and it's also said that if you can interpret their songs, you'll be able to predict the weather.
The painting I chose for this newsletter is actually of my siren, Nighmin, but I thought she'd be a good fit for this topic since she's a relative of the Sabawaelnu. Nighmin is not a part of the Dochertyverse but I do have future plans for her that I will share soon.
