Welcome to Inspire Learning Teaching School Hub

Welcome to our weekly newsletter. Inspire Learning NW TSH has been chosen as the Teaching School Hub for Liverpool and Wirral. As you know we are currently setting up the Hub to be fully operational in September 2021.

We wanted to draw your attention to the most recent education recovery announcement from the Government. We are delighted that the package recognises the vital importance of educator development, and welcome the boost for high quality, evidence-based training for teachers and leaders. Through the range of programmes that we offer, we will be delivering the highest quality provision for schools across our region and look forward to welcoming many of you onto these programmes as they are rolled out.

The most important elements to note are:

· £69 million to extend the rollout of the Early Career Framework reforms for teacher training in the first two years after qualification. This includes extending funded time off timetable to second year teachers from this September – a year earlier than previously planned although this does not mean that they have to be enrolled onto our ECF programme.

· £184 million of new funding for middle and late-career national professional qualifications.

· £153 million for training for early years staff to support the very youngest children’s learning and development. This will involve new programmes focusing on key areas such as speech and language.

ECF update

We are excited to be working with University College London (UCL) to offer the Full Induction Programme (FIP) of the Early Career Framework (ECF) for all Early Career Teachers (ECTs formerly NQTs). To help schools better understand these new statutory induction requirements, we are holding a further two webinars to talk through the necessary actions for schools to take. There will be time for colleagues to ask questions within these sessions however if you simply require the information, please watch the recording of our previous webinar ECF Information webinar.

The two new webinar options are:

Monday 14th June, 11.30am-12.15

  1. If you are already aware of the new changes and are wondering what the next steps to take are, the three things below are of key importance:

    1. Look for an email from the DfE inviting you to sign up to their new online service. This will ask you the details of your Induction Tutor and to select how you intend to deliver the Early Career Framework.

    2. There are different options that schools can take, one of which is the fully funded Full Induction Programme. We strongly advise attending one of our webinars, or contacting us, in order to fully understand the implications of the different choices.

    3. If you want to do the Full Induction Programme with us, you then need to express interest here - ECF Expression of Interest form

Schools should have received an email from DfE from this (very long!) email address - department.for.education.teacher.continuing.professional.development@notifications.service.gov.uk

Below is the information we have been given for schools who have yet to receive their email. There is a website link you can use to prompt another email, or there is a DfE e-mail address you can contact. We hope it helps!

Email invites have been sent to all maintained schools and academies. The invite will have been sent to the email address(es) registered against the school in GIAS (Get Information About Schools). This is usually an office@, admin@ or head@ email address.

GIAS is accessed via DfE Sign-in (DSI), the department’s identity and access management system.

DfE Sign-in logins are managed within your establishment; to obtain a login please contact your DfE Sign-in approver.

If you are still unable to locate your approver, your approver is no longer at your establishment or you have any other query regarding DfE Sign-in please contact the DfE Sign-in service desk by completing a DfE Sign-in support request -

https://help.signin.education.gov.uk/contact/form

After logging in to DfE Sign-in select the Get Information About Schools application from the menu which will open your establishment record.

To edit your details, select 'Edit' which will show the fields in an editable mode. Once you have made your changes click 'Save' on the confirmation page.

If schools cannot find the original email, schools should visit https://manage-training-for-early-career-teachers.education.gov.uk/ and regenerate a new email invite to the address they have registered with GIAS or emailcontinuing-professional-development@digital.education.gov.ukfor support

NPQ update

We are excited to be working with University College London (UCL) and the Church of England (in partnership with the Catholic Education Service) to offer the full suite of reformed NPQs which will start in November 2021. Details on how to apply will be available in July.

The 3 existing NPQs in senior leadership, headship and executive leadership have been updated and reformed.

The existing NPQ in middle leadership has been replaced with 3 new NPQs for teachers and leaders who want to develop their expertise in the specialist areas of:

  • Leading Teacher Development

  • Leading Behaviour & Culture

  • Leading Teaching
