For over 20 years, Kimberly has been an attorney for abused and neglected kids and in 2020, she was also a Democratic candidate for United States Senate.
She ran for office because, in her words, "In my work, I see a lot of things we can do better in our nation, state, counties, cities and towns."
Today, she officially announced she is running for Polk County Attorney and I am proud to be among the first in Polk County to endorse her because I believe she has the skills, compassion and common-sense to address the systemic issues within our county’s justice system.
She will create a safer Polk County by re-prioritizing where we invest time and resources: assertively prosecuting crimes of violence, especially sexual assault and crimes against children, elders and other vulnerable people, and shifting focus away from prosecuting low level non-violent crimes like marijuana possession.

She will invest in diversion programs for youth to reduce recidivism - as well as increase resources for those who have addiction or mental health issues.
She will increase resources for victims of crime. County Attorneys have more power and impact on our justice system than most folks realize. We can create a safer and more just nation, one county attorney at a time.
I have had the pleasure of knowing Kimberly for more than four years. She has proven time again that she has the strength of character, the compassion and the progressive values that will help move our state’s largest county to a more equitable and effective justice system that serves all.
