Dublin City Proposals for 30 km/h need your support

Dublin City councillors are due to make crucial decisions on speed limits in the City shortly. The whole process has been delayed and we anticipate that the issue may be raised at the Council Meeting on Monday 14th June. We need everybody to contact their local councillors and urge them to support the default 30 km/h speed limit.

You can find your local councillor here and click below to read more details and a sample letter.

Last September, we launched our Vision for Cycling in Rural Ireland with the eight priorities we believe will enable more people to cycle more often for everyday journeys. We think we have made many changes in the right direction worth celebrating

Ireland needs to fundamentally redirect transport policy and apply the internationally recognised “avoid-shift-improve” approach to cutting emissions in the sector, according to a new report by the Oireachtas Committee on Environment and Climate Action - well worth checking it out here. It has potentially huge implications for the future of transport in Ireland including active travel.

“The world will need much more cycling if we are to overcome climate change, the most urgent crisis of our times. If we succeed, the 2020s could be the decade when the way we transport ourselves stopped being the problem and became part of the solution.” Well worth checking out The Decade of the Bicycle” article on the ECF website penned by the new President of the European Cyclists’ Federation, Henk Swarttouw.
