"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose..." ~ Romans 8:28

Are you feeling alone, like you're taking on the whole world's problems? Sometimes we feel overwhelmed by the difficulties of life, especially during times of transition. Sometimes actions and reactions that are so unusual and foreign to our way of normal thinking occur all to often. Sometimes frustrations at our inability to keep order and peace hurt at the very core of our being.

Our homes, communities, state, nation and world are in that time of transition. We are struggling to enter into that new reality which will bring us to a sense of normalcy when the time is right.

We have been called to a spirit of hope, love and compassion; and that starts with listening to each other. If we work for God's purpose of peace, God works for and through us. We know what can unify us, and we know who remains the same yesterday, today and tomorrow - our Lord Jesus. He is our hope in all things.

So as our summer begins, may we be quick to listen, deliberate in our good actions, and instruments of Christ's peace in all we do!

And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. ~ Colossians 3:14

May God bless each of us as we seek our rest, comfort, and hopes in our Lord Jesus.  Amen.

~ Pastor Denise

Current COVID-19 Guidelines
DeBows UMC has updated its COVID-19 guidelines for indoor worship services, per recently released CDC & NJ State recommendations. These recommendations reflect the progress made in reducing the number of COVID-19 cases, due in large part to the effectiveness of the vaccine rollout.

UPDATE – Wearing a mask and social distancing is now optional for fully vaccinated people. Unvaccinated people should continue to wear masks and maintain social distancing. Also, people are no longer required to pre-register to attend an indoor worship service. With some exceptions, the State of NJ is not requiring proof of vaccination status and is depending on the honor system for guideline compliance. DeBows UMC will also use the honor system.

DeBows will maintain its advanced level of cleaning and sanitizing of the building and continue to offer hand sanitizer and disposable masks upon entry.

Church Flea Market
Saturday, June 26
8am - 2pm

DeBows will host a Flea Market on Saturday, June 26 from 8 AM to 2 PM. Table space (no table) for vendors is $10. Please contact Sue Hayward at jerseysue@outlook.com to reserve a space or for more information.

We will be meeting at the church on Friday evening (6/25) starting at 6 PM to organize any donations that have been dropped off at the church. Please stop by for a few minutes, if you can, to help. We will be setting up the pop-up canopies and tables on Saturday morning at 7 AM. We need help for setup at 7 AM as well as breakdown around 1-2 PM. We also need help manning the church’s tables.  Any help would be appreciated.

UMCOR Hygiene Kits

DeBows will be supporting UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) through September by supporting their Hygiene Kit program.

This is hurricane season and the projected heat wave/drought conditions in the west this summer make wild fires a very real possibility.

Along with accepting monetary donations, DeBows will be collecting items to build Hygiene Kits. Our UMCOR Hygiene Kit outreach activity helps to meet the ever increasing demand for relief items. The Hygiene Kits we put together are forwarded to UMCOR for deployment to those most in need. This has been very successful and rewarding ministry in past years.

If you wish to donate, please mark clearly on your check or envelope that it is for UMCOR.  Each Hygiene Kit is valued at $12, but any and all donations will be greatly appreciated and will be sent to UMCOR along with the hygiene kits.

Click HERE to view a detailed list of items needed along with other important guidelines. "Thank You" for your support.

Clothing Drive
DeBows will be running a USED CLOTHING DRIVE this summer. We are working with a company in Freehold that will pay DeBows by the pound for the used clothes collected.

Now is the time to clean your closets and donate anything you no longer want or need. Here is a list of items that are acceptable for this fundraiser.
  • used men, women, and children’s clothing
  • shoes
  • purses
  • belts
  • bed and bath linens
  • stuffed animals
Please put your donations in plastic garbage bags and place them on the stage in Fellowship Hall. The pickup date is being scheduled for early August.

Thank you for your support.
