Heart Warming Music on a Cold Wintery Eve...

Giinagay...

This week we have been extremely fortunate to have had a Eurythmist and Extra Lesson Teacher working at Chrysalis. Diane ran Eurythmy classes for Class 2, Class 4, and Class 8 students.

Unique to Steiner Schools, Eurythmy is a technique for integrating the arts and academic learning. Primarily an art of movement, Eurythmy encompasses elements of music, language, arts, literature, speech and drama, numeracy, geometry and spatial and social awareness. Its objective is to enhance and deepen the children's learning experience of every other subject.
Yesterday was Diane's second visit to the school and her work centered around speech, natural forms, and sacred geometry, catering to the developmental age of the child.

The Class 8 Firesticks performance is a beautiful example of the integrated nature of Eurythmy. Together students plan the geometric patterns, which form the basis of the choreography. As they rehearse the movement, they are utilising spatial awareness, mathematical logic, inter & intrapersonal skills, and emotional intelligence.

Diane will continue to visit every 4 weeks throughout the year and work her way through each of the classes. We are very excited to have the opportunity to work with Diane.

Annual Strings Concert...
Our annual strings concert was held at Maam Gamambiya on Tuesday night. This was a concert that showcased the progression of strings at Chrysalis from Class 3 to Class 8. We also heard from the Class 4 marimba players and Class 7 and Class 8 vocalists. We were further blessed by the presence of Lydia, Freya, and Lily, who started their string journey in Chrysalis Class 3 and are now in Year 11. They played with the string ensemble and then shared a wonderful performance at the end of the evening.
Our sincere gratitude girls!
On such a beautiful winter Tuesday night, families gathered in the warmth of each other's company to share in a night of rich and heart-warming music.
Our congratulations go out to every child and student who performed - we are so proud of you!

Out of 21 teams competing, Alice managed to bring her team home to win 2nd place!
Well done Alice!

Oliver P, visiting author from Bellingen Readers and Writers Festival...
Thursday saw classes 4 & 5 and classes 6, 7 & 8 attend a workshop with visiting author Oliver Phommavanh. Oliver is a children's author who loves to make people laugh on the page and on stage as a comedian.
Oliver shared some key tips with the children to help them create wonderful, humourous stories. The students were fully engaged with Oliver's presentation which left many seeking an autograph at the end.
Oliver's books include such titles as 'Thai-Riffic', 'Brain Freeze' and 'Con-nerd'.
Copper Work Class 7...
This year, Andi Corlett has worked with Class 7 as the Copper Work Teacher in our new copperwork program. Students who have worked with Andi this year have enjoyed banging and shaping the metal whilst experiencing its warming qualities and beauty.

Our Circle Song and Pitter Patter playgroups are for children aged 9 months to 4 years old and provide a safe and nurturing stepping stone for young children to meet the world outside their home with parents and carers by their side.
There are now three playgroups held each week during term time.
Please email Suzane Polaris to enquire about enrolling in Playgroup for 2021 or see the school website for more information.
