Yes! We are back! and in the words of the chair of St. Barbe’s Trustees;
“We are truly grateful to you for sticking with us through lockdown. We have tried to stay in touch through newsletters, quizzes and on-line activities. Behind the scenes, there has been a hive of activity with educational programmes, revamps to our storage and changes to the museum displays. We have also improved our website and put our collection of over 20,000 objects on-line.” (excerpt from a letter from our Chair John de Trafford.)
Since Lockdown ended on 17 May, we on the Friends Committee, have been busy learning about our new membership system, preparing new membership cards and slowly catching up with renewals and paperwork - we are very grateful to you for your patience during this time.
We are also grateful for your continuing support of St Barbe through your direct debit payment - your membership card is now available at the Welcome Desk for you to collect (if you haven’t already done so.) Remember if you have a family membership there will be two cards waiting for you!
Our Open Exhibition finishes tomorrow (Saturday 12 June @ 4pm) if you haven’t managed to see the local artwork it really is worth a trip. Perhaps visit our gift shop and catch up with friends in The Old School Café? (10am to 4pm Monday to Saturday.)
Opening next Saturday 19 June is WILD celebrating the natural history of the British Isles – this promises an exciting exhibition for visitors to learn about the habitats and challenges faced by our native animals.
We very much look forward to inviting you to our Friends’ events and activities as we gradually open-up as restrictions lift.
With our sincere thanks and very best wishes,
Liz Sanders
Membership Secretary
